Were he have been in one of the main parties his effect would have, most likely, reduced to that of other 'large hitters' already in that party. He did better by making a protest party worth voting for.

It's just a pity that many voters fear not voting for their choice of established parties, so the seats weren't forthcoming. With a majority of voters in the referendum wanting out, had they the nerve to vote for the party pushing for out, taking votes from both main parties, there was a reasonable chance of gaining a very persuasive block in the Commons. But it was not to be.

We haven't left, chilli. And that possibility is looking remoter by the day.
Even Nigel said he'd accept a second referendum. (I think, I only saw the headlines)
I don't think my suspicions are that unfounded. Consider, for example, Farage's role as an MEP. Or, more to the point, his lack of it -- the only MEPs with worse attendance records than Farage's are either sick or died during their term. In an admittedly limited sense, that represents Farage's main opportunity to play an active role, and he shuns it.

Appearing on TV programmes pontificating is what Farage has chosen to do, and it doesn't count -- objectively -- as "active participation". It's not a case of some conspiracy to keep him out. It's his own choice.
As an aside, OG, how ironic that Farage would have led UKIP to a far more active role in politics with a voting system that gave his four million supporters in 2015 a far greater return for their efforts than just one MP.

It’s in the post, Spicy.
It’s a bit like a cheap eBay purchase i.e. on a slow boat from China that can take up to 6 weeks to arrive but it will get here!
In any case, Naomi, I see that once again you're reduced to playing the man rather than the ball. Any chance you could address the substance of my posts, for a change?

Your rite steg, I shud of.....
Unsure it's ironic, just a fact that an inferior system can, on occassion, score over a superior one. Ultimately it's not the party that's important, it's the representative. Better by far to have banned parties and get representatives committed to actually representing their constituents' predominant view. That'd make the tendency to stick with one candidate less likely unless they represented them well.
Oh how peeved I am
