Shocking story of Islamophobia/bullying/anti-refugee bone-headedness, not yet mentioned in these columns.

A reminder in case you need one:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/nov/28/schoolboy-to-be-charged-over-huddersfield-attack-on-refugee-15

All this Syrian family want is to live their lives in peace, all their children want is to go to school, in peace.

Once upon a time refugees were welcomed here.

Surely they are grateful for their good fortune to have managed to enter the world's best country.

I have nothing at all against controlled immigration, skilled people who can support themselves and contribute to society.
What I strongly object to is the economic migrants who are coming across the Channel in little rubber rings as they see us as a 'soft touch' they are not fleeing a hostile Country, France as far as I know is quite peaceful, they just want access to our soft benefits system.

PS,
I notice the Link does not mention how the family support themselves.
on the face of it, it's racist. or is it? these are children. children are and have always been cruel beggars, and they will always isolate anyone or anything that's different. the victim came from Syria, but he needn't have done - he could just have come "from over 't 'ill"or it could just be that the designer logo on his shirt faces the wrong way to everyone else. that's the law of the playground - wrong though it may me.
But the point is he did come from Syria;that’s why he was bullied. Nothing to do with over the hill.
Children bully each other in the playground all the time nowadays sadly, and film it. This has only made headlines because he is muslim. I bet there are plenty of muslim bullies !!
HereIam, a short, concise response and right to the point. Bullying on the school-grounds and elsewhere unfortunately happens all the time. In this case it makes the news wholely because the victim is a muslum
Never trust people who put exclamation marks in their answers as a replacement for an argument and also those who cannot spell ie the last two.
Or people who cannot use basic punctuation marks, and whose syntax is dreadful. Is it "and also", or, or?

The toerag who bullied this Syrian lad is from a well-known scumbag family. He will have bullied fat kids, ginger, effeminate kids and a whole host of other kids.

The reason this story has piqued your interest is the Muslim immigrant angle isn't it, bainbrig? Yet Muslim immigrants raping and trafficking children never appears to get your attention...funny that.

Sorry, I should have put in the details of how the refugee family had been given a rent-free 5-bedroomed detached house in the smarter part of Huddersfield. They obviously get disability, jobseekers allowance, tax free credits, and lifetime annuities - oh, and free travel.

Don’t think I’ve missed anything.
Sieg heil!
Haha Highbury.... fairy nuff. In the inimitable style of Eric Morecambe. Aheeem Arsenal. :))
Highbury, you're quite incorrect when you assumed that I made a spelling mistake.

Free schooling. Free dental care,(who gets that?) Free health care, Free advice,(from you know where) Free ride? Meanwhile as we send £squillions over there, they all head over here. Happy daze. Reads more like a Pratchett sketch every time you consider it.
Well, the lad has got himself a cracking lawyer.

Meanwhile back on earth.....
Xenophobia abounds on this site. Interesting definition given in my dictionary which sounds so familiar.

Unlike other phobias, xenophobia isn't really considered an abnormal condition; instead, it's generally thought of as just serious narrow-mindedness, the kind of thinking that goes along with racism and extreme patriotism.
emmie - "and its still happening, Jews being targeted on a daily basis, the stats are there for all to see."

You're forgetting, some on the left (I said 'some' before people start losing their minds) think that Jews are fair game. There's a pernicious anti-Jew faction in Labour that Corbyn is still failing to eradicate (to be fair to him, I don't think it's possible - it's entrenched).

What this kid did is despicable, and I hope he's punished appropriately. Picking on a kid because of where they come from or their colour absolutely stinks.
