Put simply it appears that we're back where we started, only now lacking the ability to influence decisions made by the EU whilst being governed by and beholden to that bloc. It would have been better just to abandon the whole devisive farce, putting it down to bad dream.

Her political career would have died that day, but hey: at least we would have seen an honest politician who cares more about what (they think) is best for their country than their own career. How refreshing would that be?
Wasn't the Article 50 thing delayed by nine months [Fabius Cunctator did it for a reason. Over to you, Peter Pedant. Boom, boom.], giving carpet-baggers like Geena Miller the chance to make mischief?
Surely, from May's perspective, it's worth a try. Nothing to lose, as lose she will.
Wasn't delayed nearly long enough.

jim: "Theresa May signed Notification under Article 50; she need not have; and Theresa May introduced and insisted on Brexit Day being specified as March 29, 2019; she need not have." - she'd have to in the end, she could delay and procrastinate perhaps but I think she saw those things as inevitable. As I have said many time times itr is very difficult to get someone to carry out a project they fundamentally disagree with. The result is a "deal" that actually has brexiteers like me saying that they'd rather stay in!
The first one. Must as I'd always have regretted it, I meant what I said after the referendum, when I imagined the result to be respected. But the government, and May in particular, has been clearly far too eager to be seen to implement "the will of the people", that they forgot to actually implement the will of the people.
A government of national unity type approach rather than sabotage the referendum result could (I think) have achieved a clean exit, but on good terms for ourselves and the EU.

When I voted "Out" I wasn't thinking about Crécy and Agincourt.
Anybody heard from backstabber Gove?
The man who speaks out of both sides of his mouth, and not enough feet to have one in every camp?
-- answer removed --
Yes, I don't understand Gove.

Has he given any interviews explaining his position, like why he's still in the Cabinet?
Generally speaking it's probably a good idea *not* to try and sneak swearwords into posts, v-e, but never mind.
Prefects busy I see.
Gove (and Boris) have been fairly quiet lately, but the most recent thing I heard from Gove is that he preferred to stay inside Cabinet and shape things from within. This is, I think, Gove-speak for "I'm a coward and I don't even have principles I could resign on anyway"...
Theland, it's been a rule of Answerbank from like day one that you (a) don't swear, and (b) don't discuss removed posts. It's not the prefects' fault, whoever they are, if people insist on ignoring these rather obvious terms of use...
The whole thing is beyond extraordinary. The Leavers aren't leaving; the Remainers have lost their representation; and it's costing us 39 million.
Jim, //Her political career would have died that day...//

Precisely. A silly suggestion then.
Don't side with the "moderator"/prefect, Jim. It makes you look like teacher's pet.
In other words we're stuck with politicians who can't help but put career before country. No wonder we were doomed, then.

Still, she *could* have done that, even if it would have cost her her career. And besides, the trick was to never actually specify that she wasn't going to sign it, and just never get around to it.
Nothing, it will achieve nothing
