How lovely it would be if reading this spurred other folk on to do the same or similar with tools, gardening equipment, sewing machines and the like..... :-)
Yeah it would, we have a warm coats thing for the homeless by me, it was a US idea someone had seen and it's spread to quite a few other places and it's lovely. I have a couple of old sewing machines someone could have before I leave, we should start them Gness.
This thread didn't go as planned, did it?

Good to see :-)
But we don't have any refugees. No country nearby has their citizens fleeing for their life.

^^^ and are supposed to seek refuge in the first safe Country they reach which is not the UK.
I know that Balders, but that does not mean to say that they aren't refugees.
It's certainly a good scheme and could help many others if rolled out too - finding money to get to appointments, college and interviews is a big worry for many trying to get ahead.
I've been having a quick noodle around, Kval and will investigate more later but WorkAid is worth looking at for some of the stuff I would like to donate rather than landfill it before things change here.....let me know if you find anywhere....
They would really appreciate your sewing machines and I'll have lots of surplus gardening tools...... Gx

Thanks for this, AOG.....hadn't given it a thought til you posted...x
Yes it does. They cease being refugees when they opt to move on from their safe country. They are then economic, and probably illegal, migrants. And some fools encourage it.

Under what authority do you come to this conclusion,Also you have no idea of the circumstances in which the refugees come to be in York.
^OG^
Yes I'll have a look, I'll be binning off a lot of stuff to various charities and refugee charities are something I'd love to help Gness :) x
By the authority of common sense. You are a refugee when freeing from a dangerous country, not when moving out of a safe one.
FLEEING !
And one doesn'tneed to know the circumstances in which the refugees come to be in York. One already knows there is no adjoining unsafe country next to the UK.
But how safe are they?
DOESN'T NEED !
In case anyone thinks I'm for open borders....I'm not.
In which country ? Safe as they can be here for sure.
