French Riots...TV pictures scarce

The french have been rioting for a week and we dont seem to be getting in depth coverage of the troubles. News items seem perfunctory. Is there a govt. directive not to show TV images in order to ensure that it does not trigger something like this in the UK (if yes i would not have a problem with that). Is there some sort of news blackout/censorship with the tacit agreement of the visual news media?

I've just watched an item approx 5 minutes long on the BBC breakfast news, that gave in depth analysis of what the papers have been saying, as well as many images of the rioting. The reporter as good as blamed one French minister for starting the whole thing.

Last night's news (apologies, can't remember which channel) also gave lengthy coverage to the situation.

Dom Tuk - please could you briefly clarify what it is you don't have a problem with... the riots, or trying to prevent them?

I should perhaps first do some of my OWN clarifying - they were analysing what the FRENCH papers have been saying. Sorry for any ambiguity.

dont have a problem with not showing pictures if the govt thinks it might set off something in the UK.

'british government directive not to show tv images'

Yet more cynical conspiracy nonsense..

chill out.

Its called censorship.

The riots in the midlands a couple of weeks ago between asian and blacks, on the BBC News site it said see this in pictures, there were about 8 pics all of them showed burnt out vehicles or workers/police not one of them show the rioters. if it had been some whites having a fracas i bet they would have shown them, same with the french riots, as its immigrants theyll show as little as possible.

The french are having a taste of what will happen here soon, its not if its when. As usual its blamed on everything except the people themselves

I can understand the root cause of the rioting, but if the article I read is true, the rioters are shouting at the police, 'keep out of occupied territories', if thats true, then it must be an uprising, and if it goes on much longer, I think, will probably spread Europe wide, and over here
bazwillrun has hit the nail on the head with his answer. if it was whites rioting it would be all over the news but because its non-whites its kept underwraps to prevent anti-immigrant feelings building up.
I regret to say the same government directive has been issued to all chat sites. At 11am tomorrow this post will be deleted and all those expressing views on it will be arrested by gendarmes.

IT all started because Muslims and other ethnic workers are demanding the same pay as French citizens. This is true, as i have relatives over there. I cant see why other nationalities dont start off at the bottom of the "pay" league. I cant see a problem with that myself............. work your way up.
