Just watching 5 news on channel 5 and Sian Williams read out that the electronic flight boards had failed and they were having to use white boards to write out the information for passengers. She then passes to the reporter at the airport and says 'tell us what happened'! Well we already know what happened because she had just told us! It really infuriates me whe they do that.

Yep..or pass the next sentence on the autocue to their fellow newsreader by simply stopping speaking and turning his/ her head so that s/he is gazing up the nearing nostril of the co presenter
nearest nostril....!!

It's so annoying.
The on the spot reporter will be able to elaborate and also bring any breaking news about the situation
I prefer the image of a nearing one :-)

But the on the spot reporter didn't add anything to the report, that's my point. All he did was repeat what she had said and then said they were trying to fix the fault and handed back to the studio!
That is the fault of the reporter then not the person who asked the question who was presumably expecting more details
