And surely, especially given their prescience on all matters EU-related, Leavers knew that would happen and voted for it anyway.
You can't seriously suggest you weren't expecting an enormous *** (I guess that will trigger the swearword filter - the urban dictionary suggests "disastrously mishandled situation") when you voted Leave?

Sorry, Zacs, but that's rather like saying if you hadn't gone swimming you would not have got wet.
Of course Brexit was going to cause some disruption but I explained in my earlier post why I believe that disruption has been exacerbated.
If we hadn't voted at all we would not be in this position; if we' voted to remain we wouldn't be in this position. But we voted to leave and that reality must be handled. Trying to retain as many aspects of EU membership as possible is the reason we are in this position and there is simply no need for it.
Of course Brexit was going to cause some disruption but I explained in my earlier post why I believe that disruption has been exacerbated.
If we hadn't voted at all we would not be in this position; if we' voted to remain we wouldn't be in this position. But we voted to leave and that reality must be handled. If the EU didn't choose to be awkward, would we be in the situation we are now ?
If the remainers had got behind the decision, would we be in the situation we are now ?
If the various PMs hadn't agreed to turn the EEC into the EU, would we be in the situation we are now ?
If folk in the original referendum hadn't been lied to about the nature of the organisation, would we be in the situation we are now ?
If Edward Heath hadn't put us in without a "by your leave", would we be in the situation we are now ?
The recent leave vote was necessary to get our country back, it is the least responsible action for the present situation. Implying blame isn't a reasonable nor honest thing to do.

"If Remainers had got behind the decision..." -- that's a very confusing statement. What, are we supposed to have abandoned what we argued for? Would Brexiters have, were the result reversed? Of course not! Why should they?
But, even setting aside the fact that democracy is defined by the losers being free to continue to argue their case, rather than vanishing quietly into the night -- even setting that aside, there's a further problem with that argument: namely, that Brexiters are the ones responsible for carrying out what they voted for, and for showing their arguments to be correct.
Stop blaming Remainers for the failures of the Brexit camp. Johnson, Davis, Fox, Gove... many others besides, all at the top. And all of them have failed to deliver what they promised. That's on them. Even May assumed office with a promise to carry out the will of the people, and despite the ridiculous conspiracies AB is now spinning, she spent at least the first year or so doing that wholeheartedly and enthusiastically. More so than any of the actual Brexiters, most of whom have restricted themselves to heckling from the sidelines.
I've no doubt that, given enough time, enough planning and enough care, Brexit need not have caused chaos even in the short-term (although I would still have held it to be the wrong decision). As it is, a vote was offered to the public to kill the issue, the public didn't do as it was told -- and now the government's trapped into delivering an utterly impossible task in far too little time against all its better judgement.

Yes it is. Absolutely reasonable and honest. Had Mrs May and the rest of the Remainers not been determined to keep one foot and as much of the rest of the body as they could inside the EU, out would have meant out. Their insistence on attempting to only half leave is why this is in such a muddle.
