There is not going to be another referendum like the first.
Nonetheless there is a difference between what people might think now and what they might do given the chance to vote again.
I am sure a lot of people just want to get on and get Brexit over and done with, even a lot of people who voted to remain.
Given the chance to stop it though, and given the surge in younger voters in the electorate (assuming they could be persuaded to vote again) and given also the fact the Leave relied so heavily on older people who had never voted before and could THEY be persuaded to vote again ...?
Then I am surprised Nigel is so confident.
It would be great to have a re-run just to see the pickle it would put May and Corbyn in though. Would May have to keep pretending Brexit is a good thing? Corbyn would presumably have to keep pretending he thinks it (sort of)
But the scenario is so unlikely as to not really be worth bothering with. If opinion changes drasiticall the other way then it'll be called off anyway.

A 'loss' in a second referendum would not actually be bad for Farage personally, though. It would strengthen his PR offensive as "voice for the betrayed" and allow him to cultivate this heroic image he's been so carefully working on. That's his bread-and-butter these days. It is how he wins sponsors, gets (paid) platforms in the media (all while insisting the media hates him) and, inevitably, the basis on which he would sell another book. His image would be considerably bolstered either way by a second referendum. I suspect that's why he isn't hostile to one.
I doubt anyone's image would be enhanced if the worst amazingly happened and a second vote had the opposite result. One doesn't gain a good reputation by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. One would get a reputation for incompetence and not being able to predict obvious consequences from proposed actions.
