School buses that go door to door, rather than designated bus stops, are common in remote areas. Having a driver only is also standard practice on mini buses. The only person at fault was the driver, for failing to check the bus before he got off at the depot

lucky escape, this could have so easily have gone wrong,
Poor kid, he must have been terrified.
So glad the little lad is OK.
some effing ejjits have no idea do they?
Very puzzled, did I miss it or was there not an adult waiting where he is dropped off.
poor wee mite
-- answer removed --
whatever the reason he had a lucky escape, poor wee mite.

Thanks Ed
With children that young I would have expected there to be another adult overseeing the children leaving the bus and an adult waiting at the stop to receive him/her.
as been said the poor boy fell asleep and missed his stop.
obviously my original evaluation is not allowed so any idea why a bus driver would simply abandon a 4 year old boy?
and as I have said there should have been another adult checking the children onto the bus and then off at their stop.
On my goodness, my stomach is turning and it's not my child. What must have gone through the parents heads when he didn't arrive home? Surely if you're ferrying children in a designated bus, the bus driver would walk up and down the bus to check everyone is off?
Very odd no supervision.

TTT...it wasn't allowed because of the language you used.

It would seem that a lesson to be learned here is that 2nd adult needs to be on the bus at all times. Maybe there isn't the budget for this.

People get left on buses reasonably often, although it is normally an oap, not a little lad of such a tender age.
TTT, the driver failed to check that the bus was empty, which is very different to him seeing a young child alone on the bus and making a conscious decision to leave him there.

Eleena...on this occasion the driver didn't, hence his sacking.
Obviously the driver's excuses didn't satisfy his employers and he's gone, we can only hope their procedures have been tightened.
