Yes... Very upsetting! Especially after reading how it affected the mental health of some of the victims.

nor should he the bloody pervert.

Life is only for murder, attempted murder and manslaughter. So a life sentence was impossible. But with a set sentence of 22 years he will serve longer than most 'lifers' and he will have a terrible time in jail.
add GBH with intent S18 to that^

vile, loathsome bottom-feeding scuzzbucket.

Compo probably takes while due to various legal proceedings.
Yes, compensation can't be considered until all possible chances of an appeal are over and that can take years.

you are right im sure, these things take time, meanwhile the poor victims need help in every which way.
This will cause a row but here goes. Such perverts (yes, I agree that is exactly what he is) along with other paedophiles, rapists, necrophile etc etc, are born with their problem. I don't believe for one minute that such people want, or choose, to be as they are, they are a victim of their birth. You may like to dream up all manner of punishments you think suitable but it won't change anything, in fact, it will just perpetuate the problem.

Unless, or until, we find a way of helping such people cope with their poblems this abominable behavour will continue ad infinitum.

Just in case you are wondering, I am eternally grateful that I was blessed with a very normal disposition.
he's being punished for what he did, not what he is. There are paedophiles who go through life without touching anyone. But I agree it's not necessarily the idea of a "lenient" sentence that encourages others to go ahead.
"Life is only for murder, attempted murder and manslaughter. So a life sentence was impossible."

Close, Eddie, but you don't win the cigar. Also add to that:

- Soliciting to commit murder
- Child destruction
- Infanticide
- Causing explosion likely to endanger life or property
- Attempt to cause explosion, making or keeping explosive etc.
- Destroying, damaging or endangering the safety of an aircraft
- Endangering the safety of an aircraft
- Racially-aggravated arson (endangering life)
- Kidnapping
- False imprisonment
- Torture
- Aggravated criminal damage
- Aggravated arson
- Arson (where value exceeds £30,000)
- Hostage-taking
-Hijacking
- Other acts endangering or likely to endanger the safety of an
aircraft
- Hijacking of ships
- Endangering safety at aerodromes
- Seizing or exercising control of fixed platforms (Aviation &
Maritime Act)
- Destroying fixed platforms or endangering their safety(Aviation &
Maritime Act)
- Other acts endangering or likely to endanger safety
navigation (Aviation & Maritime Act)
- Offences involving threats (Aviation & Maritime Act)
- Offences relating to Channel Tunnel trains and the tunnel system
- Possession of firearm with intent to endanger life
- Use of firearm to resist arrest
- Possession of firearm at time of committing or being arrested for
offence specified in schedule 1 to that Act
- Possession of firearm with criminal intent
- Possession or acquisition of certain prohibited weapons etc.
- Aggravated burglary
- Robbery or assault with intent to rob
- Armed robbery
- Assault with weapon with intent to rob
- Contamination of goods with intent
- Attempting to choke, suffocate, strangle etc.
- Destroying or damaging property other then an offence of arson
- Causing miscarriage by poison, instrument
- Endangering the safety of railway passengers
- Impeding persons endeavouring to escape wrecks
- Administering chloroform, laudanum etc.
- Possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply

I may have missed one or two out. But other than that, spot on!
What amazed me about this case, when it first surfaced 3 years ago, was how he got away with what he did, for so long.
//he's being punished for what he did, not what he is. //

Surely for cases like this incarceration(the punishment) is used to protect the public?

//I'm sure he won't have it easy in there being a Child Abuser//

Unfortunately he will be protected by being placed on the NONCE wing with others of his ilk. One can only hope the door is left open at some point.
For those thinking youngmaf has strayed into TTT territory and is using "Sweeney" talk or whatever, NONCE is perfectly legit. It means "Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise"
Thanks NJ I knew there were more offenses where life was a possibility but I could not be bothered to look them up I gave the most common ones. It does not change my point that the offence charged does not carry a possible life sentence.
