Vote was 5-2 in DT's favour. What do you reckon to that then?

SP....we know that Trump will never tackle gun ownership in America, as the various gun lobbies pay him millions of dollars not to.
Mikey, why won't you answer my question?
Michael, did you miss the award winning documentaries War Of The Worlds and Independence Day?
Emmie....this is all to do with pandering to the small minded people that are most likely to vote for him.

There are lots that Trump could do to really help his own citizens, like getting a decent health care program off the ground, and banning assault weapons, but he prefers these Big Ticket items, like banning certain religions arbitrarily.

Mikey, you are wandering way off the OPs question.
In terms of his first term, this is a big win for Trump. It’s not been an easy first year for his administration, and with the recent tax cuts he’s pushed through, he can now say that he’s delivering on his election promises.

What his core supporters need, is to feel safe and secure. If the travel ban results in no more terror attacks on US soil between now and 2021, he will be in a position to say that the policy has worked.
Naomi....I have given my views on this subject many times in the past, and I have also expressed the same view on this thread....5-2 means that the decision wasn't unanimous. And this is only a partial success for Trump, as various State courts around the country can still overrule him, as they have been doing for nearly a year.
SP, can you answer my question at 07.57 please.

No they don’t.

I’m not sure of the country of origin of the last terrorist attackers on US soil.

I include Las Vegas in that, because technically it wasn’t a terrorist attack.
Would it not be too easy for nationals of those countries to travel from an adjacent country. As this ban is only on persons travelling from the proscribed countries I can't see it being very effective in keeping terrorists out.
Danny....I don't know for sure but America normally require Visas on entry. Wherever you start your journey from, your identity and nationality will always be apparent. Trump wants to keep all new Muslims out of America.

But I seem to remember that some British people were stopped at the incoming airport, purely because they had what was presumed to be a "Muslim" name.
danny, //Would it not be too easy for nationals of those countries to travel from an adjacent country. //

Passport checks would expose anyone who tries that. I don't think security would be restricted to incoming flights from specified countries.
What this really means is that when anybody who looks remotely "muslim", which could include Hindus, or pretty much anybody else, tries to enter the US, they will be asked what their religion is. Trump is only interested in banning Muslims.
Naomi, if the security checks at airports are efficient then why the need for this ban. What happens if a non-Muslim wants to travel from any of those countries?
Mikey, //Trump is only interested in banning Muslims.//

That’s because Islamic extremists are Muslim.

Danny, I might be wrong but as I understand it passport holders from those countries (wherever they fly from) will be refused entry.
Danny....I have had Visas to enter America many times in the past 40 years, and I cannot recall ever being asked what religion I practise.

If I were to fly out again in the next few weeks, I still don't expect that question to be asked of me.

However, if my name was something along the lines of, say Mr Mohammed Mohammed, I am sure it would be different.
Naomi, so that would include non-Muslims as well.
Mikey, //if my name was something along the lines of, say Mr Mohammed Mohammed, I am sure it would be different. //

Islamic extremists are Muslim. Do you know who among the Muslim population you can trust?
danny, //Naomi, so that would include non-Muslims as well. //

I imagine it would include anyone carrying a passport issued in one of those countries.
