Sounds like Political Correctness gone even Madder than usual to me.
Why should sixth form students not be allowed to have amnesty when debating contentious topics? It can only encourage adult debate surely. Yes AOG, I think it is a start in the much desired reversal of forcing political or social views on young people, whether via a covertly designed curriculum or through being influenced by tutors who will only countenance their own views on topics.

There seems to be a contradiction there. This encourages free speech and yet someone is going to decide whether the language used is appropriate. Hmmmm. Well, it's not an antidote exactly, but it's a step in the right direction.
Perhaps it means that they will not be allowed to call each other fascist or racist bigots Naomi. :))

I totally agree with you Togo, that is why AnswerBank is so popular, unlike the nations media one is allowed to debate controversial subjects and give an opinion, even if some would rather not take note.

So they are going to have a speaker on why all cultures aren’t equal, and she says "that implies that non-Western cultures are inferior".

Where on earth does it imply that?
These ideas should be open and free for debate. Only when presented with such ideas can they be challenged.

The idea of safe spaces is pretty ridiculous. Only when those on the extreme Left or Right have the opportunity to air their views can those views be argued against.

I can think of 6 million reasons why students shouldn't study Mein Kampf. Give me a copy and I would happily rip it up. Would that be unsafe enough.
I have no problem in principle in passionate debate with all sides represented, but I fear this is just an excuse to promote a hard right wing agenda.
Would they invite a pro Isis speaker along? I doubt it because srely that would contradict the Governments Prevent strategy
