The Pink Floyd song "Another Brick In The Wall" comes to mind. Teacher leave those kids alone. Perhaps the teacher hadn't heard of it.
There can't be a teacher alive who hasn't heard that song, Meta. :-)
Tilly, on a slightly off topic subject. I got tickets for Roger Water's Pink Floyd concert next June. I hope he'll play it. All the best.
I am sure my teachers through the years, particularly the nuns, would not be considered PC these days..did it have any bearing on my education..NO... if anything it prepared me for the unjustices and unfairness in life..... what happens in the classroom should stay in the clasroom and the namby pamby okya folks should find better things to campaign about... life is unfair and cruel at times.... better to learn early on than to wear rose couloured specs !
Oh give Minty best answer please! They're my thoughts exactly.
coloured.... classroom.... keyboard skills were not on the curriculum..lol..... hellooo horsey xx
What goes on in the classroom should stay in the classroom. Just like Vegas??

That's a nutty attitude, imo.
why ? kids need to learn to handle themselves and not rely on mummy and daddy to fight their battles ! hard fact of life...far too much PC and cotton wool around these days imo
particularly if one is transgender... whole lot more bias and unfair criticism will ensue for sure..life is not rose coloured or pigeon holed...

Whilst it is the job of teachers to train children for adult like, it's not the job of teachers to pick on pupils.

It's not the job of teachers to actively make children feel bad about themselves. Teachers should (and by and large, do) encourage children to be the best people they can.

This story stinks to high heaven, and kvalidir has outlined what I think is really the issue here.

This does not appear to be an isolated incident:

I had always tried to respect the pupil and keep a professional attitude as well as my integrity, but it seemed to me that the school was trying to force me to adhere to its liberal, Leftish agenda.

Red flag.

Compartmentalised
Crazy attitude. You seem to be advocating bullying in the classroom, Minty.
Good for him for keeping his integrity. We are in trouble when we start punishing people for refusing to lie.
bulliyng in the classroom has been and ever will be part of school life ! get over it
Is that how many genders there are now, Douglas?
Merely a visual aid to allay sp1814s worst fears. :-)
