Again, IF proven, another serious error of judgement from a woman who should know better.

IF proven though... she might have done nothing wrong.

I've still got a lot of respect for her though. Not as the PM's wife, but as an excellent lawyer setting a great example in the field to young ambitious women. However, these errors of judgement are really letting her down.

All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not Tony. He must hold his head in his hands daily !

As for her Lawyer side I wont say too much about the HRA ( in case I rattle Looseheads cage ! ) other than I think it very suspicious her firm gets so much from an Act driven through by her husband.

Seem to recall Labour yelled sleeze for much less when the boot was on the other foot.

The thing I meant about her lawyer side, is that she visited the legal advice centre where I was doing volunteer work at the time and gave a very positive speech encouraging all of us in our career aims. She is, in my opinion, a VERY good barrister.

The dealings of her Chambers might well be, hmmm, less than pure white, but show me a chambers of partnership that is!!!

Not meaning to disagree with anyone by the way... just adding a little to what I said before!

chambers OR partnership I meant! Ooops! Merging the professions a little early there I feel! Woops!
A PMs wife giving a speech to volunteers is hardly likely to be less than very encouraging. I dont see how a speech by a rich woman in a very high position could qualify anyone to then label her as you do Jan Bug. I realise that your first steps into a legal career could place you in a position where you may be qualified better than other non legal minds to judge her work. But i recall having read in some places in articles written by those from the legal profession suggesting that while she may be a good legal professional she is not exceptional and nothing really home to write about and that she is not the visionary legal mind that the blair/new labour spin machine would have us believe.
Well my Dennis never did anything like that, he was happy with a large G&T.

I have never been addressed by the PM's wife Dom Tuk. I was addressed by Cherie Booth QC. If one ignores who she's married to, and the abuse she has made of that position, she is actually a very good person to listen to, and, in my opinion, a very good lawyer. It's not my choice of degree that leads me to say that though, it was from hearing her speak, and from what I've read about her. Of course others will differ. I just feel that Cherie Booth and Cherie Blair deserve to be judged on the merits she demosntrates in each situation, as well as judged when we bear in mind that it's actually all the same person! I don't even make sense to myself sometimes!!!

When Mrs Booth addressed you was she the PMs wife? I suspect she was or else the chances of being invited as a guest speaker are not very high. And i do not accept that the audience completely blanked out the fact that she was the PMs wife they were listening to.

A good case in point is Mrs Paul Mccartney who is now a great speaker and patron of various charities. I do not think that she would be on Telly and the papers if she did not have that surname. Bet you she also makes for a great motivational speaker.

There is no such woman as Cherie Blair QC.

I was perfectly capable of accepting her with the hat that she had on. She came to visit our Law Centre as part of her work with a Pro Bono group. It was nothing to do with who she's married to.

I honestly don't like her that much Dom Tuk. I respect her as a lawyer, but as a person, not a huge fan.

I don't mean to sound provoking, but you are in danger of implying that a woman is nothing more than her husband's wife.

Yes good point, what's she doing out of the kitchen?
I'd hope she's proved innocent. Just for the sake of the tabloids getting egg on their face. More often than not, the average tabloid "sensation" these days is complete fabrication.

I have no opinion to speak of regarding the Blairs. OK, I do, I think they're all gits. Even the unborn ones.

stevie21 - short, and to the point. I sometimes wish my contirbutions to debate were more like yours! :-)

MrsT - I suspect she couldn't fit in there, as her kitchen is presumably full of Jamie Oliver all the time.

Give her a break. She has one enormous mouth to feed.
I so wish I was a clever lawyer type. Wish I hadn't left school at 16 and gone straight to Tescos. I could earn a fortune, like that Nescafe woman.
Lou..... what!?!
jan_bug - leave her alone, she left school at 16 and went straight to Tescos. ;-)

Does that mean I'm not allowed to not understand!?! :-(

I'm genuinely confuzzled! :-p
