Possibly. But she may not have known how best to react because, you know, she was surprised and perhaps a little embarrassed. Maybe Sandler shouldn't have made the assumption that it was OK in the first place. Which, I would have thought, is rather more important.
Kathy, there would have been a twitterstorm and tabloid frenzy had she made an issue of it. Possibly leading to her becoming a commercial liability within the industry and her career drying up. Which is very redolent of the main news story surrounding Hollywood at the moment.
And the answer is Yes, he has gone way, way too far. Not a brush, or a gesture, but a hand full on the leg.
If there is anyone here who doubts that this as unacceptable, then wake up now and listen. Never mind the label, its not necessarily sexual harrassment or assult, but it is flippin creepy, uncomfortable and sickening. I would have slapped that hand very hard!
I think that the time is right for me to retell my story of a 'sexual assault' committed against me.
Some of the older members of AB will have heard it before, but here goes to those who haven't.
I was once in a supermarket with my wife and we were at the bakery counter, as usual I was in charge of the supermarket shopping cart and were leaning over it as one does.
All of a sudden I felt a nip on my rear end, turning round in amazement to see a female scuttling away voicing the words,
"I just couldn't resist that".
I gave her a friendly smile and an end was put to the whole affair.
What was I to do cry "sexual Assault" call for the security guard, have her frog marched to the office, whilst the police were called so that I could complain and have her charged with sexual assault?
No I think we chaps would be laughed at and told how lucky we were. Snigger, snigger.
So how do we stand on --shaking hands, kisses on the cheek when we greet someone,an arm round a person's shoulder or just a hug? Are we to stop doing all of these. There are going to be an awful lot of self-conscious people from now on.. We have double standards in the UK. Take a look at the sex fuelled reality shows on TV . If the contestants aren't ''at it''after a couple or so episodes then some viewers start complaining that the show is boring.
That's just trying to pretend a slippery slope exists but it clearly doesn't. If you hug someone you *offer* them a hug, and they are free to accept or refuse at their pleasure. If you shake someone's hand you offer your hand up, and they take it or not as they choose. You don't offer your hand, watch them refuse to shake, then bodily grab their hand, place it in yours and shake vigorously. And so on.
AOG, that’s a pretty poor justification for your suggestion that criticism is Sandler’s actions is ‘way to(sp) far’. I suspect your story is from a number of years ago and it wasn’t in the same circumstances.
well andres I don't watch reality tv so can't comment on it.
I never kiss someone on the first time of meeting - do you?
The lady in question made it plain that she was uncomfortable with the situation yet he continued to touch her.
AOG if you felt uncomfortable that is for you to manage the situation if you felt it was a sexual assault then you manage the situation as you see fit.
