see I'd take this a lot more seriously if it wasn't just the next thing in a long list of things that some (not all) men have said that women couldn't and shouldn't do and some women have agreed with them. off the top of my head here's my list
vote
enter politics
enjoy sex
drive a car
fly a plane
use a typewriter
operate all kinds of heavy machinery
be in the police force
be in a senior position at work over a man or men
manage their own money
hold a bank account
ride astride a horse
enter higher education
gain a degree
become a doctor
become a lawyer

Suffice to say, a woman's mentstrual cycle would present absolutely no problem during any sort of 'op'.

...and if she discovered she was pregnant whilst on say, a 6 month tour of Helmand Province? Happened to a few females in Bastion, what happens when it's in a remote OP near the FEBA?
Like I said, no idea of infantry operational requirements.
And of course all men are totally rational all the time.

Wasting your breath Chill, the same old argument will be reiterated
ad infinitum
I'm generally not a fan of any policy that implies that I'm, at least in theory, more suited to front-line combat than any woman.
Of course they are Zacs just look at all of the posters comments regarding females on this post!!!
I think Islay and woof have this covered. It wouldn't be for me- but those who are willing and able- good luck to them.

I think they should be allowed to use a typewriter.
I think it is an excellent idea......imaginative.
In WW2 the Japanese issued blow up dolls for the front line troupes (allegedly) and now the RAF is providing the real thing. Win/win situation.
Love the idea of front line troupes - did they do the Can Can?

I'll let the RAF decide.
mamy...that is the whole point......they will do what you request of them.......;-)
Gradely.
We'll send them an AB Poll. I'm sure they'll listen.
yup islay, I forgot that one....also box
anybody got any more?

As I've said before, during my time in HM Forces the best Sgt Major I ever had was female. She was absolutely brilliant.
But that was in a different capacity.

Would I have wanted her next to me in a trench with fixed bayonets with the enemy closing rapidly?
Not in a million years.
I can't imagine she would want to be next to you, with that thinking, either.
Question Author
Exactly pixie, it's the last place she'd want to be, she'd have been out of her depth, being asked to do things she had no physical capacity for.
How would she be allowed to do it without the physical capacity?
Would you be happy next to a man who wasn't capable?
