A spokesman for Naz Shah has commented that her re-tweeting that the victims of the racist Rochdale rapists should be quiet for the sake of diversity as a “…genuine accident…”.

Given that this is the same Naz Shah who blamed her hatred of Jews last year on “ignorance”, I think I prefer the more likely explanation that rather than tweeting by accident and being ignorant about jews, that she is, quite simply, a liar.
Well, firstly, because the president hardly ever retweets anything. If you look at his Twitter feed it is almost entirely stuff he has written (or dictated or whatever) himself. Plus his twitter feed seems to be an instrumental part of how the White House is run, because he's regularly announced hiring and firing decisions before anyone else knew about them through Twitter.

This is just some random MP who has retweeted something which some joker has written on twitter... I really can't see what's to get het up about.
Talbot, it's a dumb joke on twitter. If you have ever been on twitter (and I believe you've mentioned that you use it), you have seen far worse. Don't break out the smelling salts all of a sudden now.

Krom, Im not sure why you are making excuses for her but I will stick with What I believe ... a vile nasty opinion from a vile nasty person.

You don't accidently like a tweet and then accidentally retweet. If you were dumb enough to do that it would take a second to rectify not 8 plus minutes after you had been told you have fallen for the old parody account trick.

Btw .... I actually follow her.

I just can't get myself angry over a dumb retweet is all. I mean I accept it's probably a distasteful joke to have next to an MP's name but I can't say it shakes me to my core or seriously offends me.

I like to think I'm quite good with understanding jokes. I listen to hours of comedy but I'm afraid I will have to admit I don't get this ... can you possibly explain it, Krom?

Well it's a parody account of Owen Jones, so it's just spoofing the disproportionately militant rhetoric and backwards priorities which sometimes makes its way into political arguments on the internet (in particular, the kind of stuff he sometimes comes out with).

It's not a sophisticated or particularly side-splitting joke, but it doesn't warrant an attack of the vapors.

Plus the fact that she does not seem to know what she is doing, the woman should be sacked.
There seems to be something inherently disingenuous within the Labour party and among its supporters. Last week we had Jeremy Corbyn emphatically denying that gangs of Pakistani Muslims were responsible for grooming young white girls – that was ignored by Corbyn supporters here, just as this is being ignored by most of them - and now this we are expected to dismiss this as a ‘joke’. No apology. It isn’t.
I'll just go ahead and assume that is aimed at me...

erm yes a silly tweet written by an irrelevant satire account. Not exactly unreasonable to insist that it's a joke.

I have not been keeping up with news over the past couple of weeks, I didn't know Corbyn had denied the grooming gangs. If he did, he's wrong and he should be challenged over it.

It is the response of Shah that is the issue ... was that a joke?
It's unclear Talbot, she didn't retweet or like with commentary.

I could understand the furore if she wrote it herself, but retweeeting something isn't the same as writing it.
"...a silly tweet written by an irrelevant satire account"

Agreed.

But the point is, given who it is and her track record, I'm willing to bet my left arm she wasn't aware it was satire, and only removed it when somebody alerted her to it.

You do not 'accidentally' like and re-tweet something like this.
She should resign or JC should sack her (as if, haha).
Mikey has been very keen to talk about the grooming gangs, I would like to see his response to this incident.
Ladybirder, I directed Mikey - and gulliver who is also a Labour fan - to this thread earlier this morning and asked them to comment. Neither arrived.
I'm really shocked at that Naomi;-) Can't imagine what's keeping them.
Nor me.
i can guess, as usual with the left they avoid any questions on here where the article is clearly right and pointing out the misdemeanours of the left.

Krom, I must say you are the exception and you put up a valiant argument but, I'm afraid in my opinion you are wrong. This lady has history and is not a nice person, and the silence from JC is deafening.
Such a performance suggests the author is either a liar or stupid. Which would you prefer your MP to be ?
