Very few things make me as angry as cruelty and/or neglect of animals, but the concept that a 'charity' as deeply flawed/useless/prejudiced (choose your own epithet) as the RSPCA should have the power to enter my home without due process of law is beyond ridiculous :

In normal times I can't believe that any Government would allow this, but we live in far from normal times ...

... and for me 'home' includes all my property (before anyone says "it's just sheds and outbuildings")
Thought they had power already...I agree with it .
Oooo...no, Minty.....not without the police attending too....

I have no respect for nor trust in the RSPCA......I'd not want them breaking into my property without an independent witness.....x
Question Author
No they don't - they have to get the Police to attend or a get Court Order - which is as it should be.

Fully agree with SDs opening paragraph, we have experience of dealing with the RSPCA over the years and will confirm are are absolutely useless, unless of course there is money or publicity in it for them.

Let them call the Police out to do the housebreaking, at least most of those Guys are genuine.
If a distressed animal needed immediate help, then it would perish before polis arrived here.. !
SPCA must be better ? Dealings I have had have been excellent.
SSPCA ^
RSPCA are useless.
It's a charity not a part of authority. The government should not even be considering it. They can call on the authorities as they do now if they need to rescue an animal.
I agree with it too. If the RSPCA didn't take abused and neglected animals from cruel homes, who would???? A lot of people moan about the RSPCA and they make mistakes (who doesn't) but we still need them. There is a great Inspector called Anthony Joynes, google him and see what terrible animal abuse he has to deal with on an daily basis. These animals need all the help they can get.

Late 60's early 70's my Mother worked for them for a while, a short while, after 6-8 weeks she walked out on them due to their apparent indifference to peoples concerns.
I 100% agree with you jammie - great post ....
All they want is money!
Very attentive here and caring...
'All they want is money'. So do all charities, that is how they operate !
Question Author
The SSPCA is separate and different, minty - less political, more tightly focused on animal welfare, and a lot less grasping ....
Question Author
There is a balance between doing the day job and aggressive fundraising, hereIam - the RSPCA is firmly on the wrong side of it.
Minty....when you're watching a dog suffer....left every Friday to Monday in a back yard you'd expect the RSPCA to help.....

Not a bit of it.........we and other neighbours were sliding water and food under and over the fences....

The reply I got was this....

Is the dog barking?
Yes...all the time...

So....you're annoyed by a barking dog and you want us to help....

Can't tell you what the other neighbours got when they phoned....but the whole episode was shameful....x
Pleased to hear that Dave..I certainly have had no problems or cause for criticism...
