“Corbyn to introduce rap duo Run the Jewels at Glastonbury” …. “ Mr Corbyn's shadow chancellor and long-term ally, John McDonnell, is also scheduled to appear at the Somerset festival, as well as Labour MP Clive Lewis…”

(Just as an aside, I’ve never heard of this band, so I googled the lyrics to some of their songs. Best I don’t post them).

actually, I much prefer it when someone admits openly to ignorance of a subject rather than affecting to know all about it after a surreptitious five-second Google.
Oh, yes. Me too.
@mikey........Grime Music is what it suggests..... but, in the case of the rap duo 'Run the Jewels' it is absolute filth. Their lyrics, if printed in Answerbank would be enough to warrant the poster being Suspended or even Banned.

What is wrong with your leader, has he become mental or has he always been somewhat brainless and is fast becoming completely insane. ???

Incidentally, you will have heard of Kim Howells, who held numerous Ministerial positions whilst a Labour MP. Well his take on Grime Music was that it could be extremely Racial and performed by "boasting macho idiot rappers"

Hans.
Some great publicity for the " rapper " :-)
RTJ are not a Grime Music act.
Hans...I can't find any links on this thread, that explain what lyrics the band uses. But if they are disputable, then maybe Corbyn should be associated with them. That doesn't stop him from appearing at Glasto in his own right of course.
HansUrbanka; "Their lyrics, if printed in Answerbank would be enough to warrant the poster being Suspended or even Banned."

Let's see;

The family came, took rings and his chains
The bank took the house and the rights
The only thing left was his child and she had a smile in his eyes
So much to the soul when the grandmama kept her, she'd look at her sometimes and cry
The very next day she cried
And day after day she cried
Then called baby mama and told her, "I'm sorry, can't keep her no more, i have tried."
No killer was captured, but i know he listening
So i'd like to tell you in song
The streets was a jungle, i hope that you made it, i hope that you righted your wrongs
I hope that you learn, i hope that you change so your mama won't know this pain
So my homie's name will mean something more than a *** got killed for a chain.
The censored word rhymes with bigger.

Mikey, // I can't find any links on this thread, that explain what lyrics the band uses.//

I didn't post a link because I don't consider the lyrics suitable for inclusion here. If you're interested though, they're easy enough to find.

jno, who's affecting to know all about it after a five minute google?
Question Author
Ken, highly selective googling.
Pot, kettle, black, naomi.
Question Author
Ken, I think not. Your post deliberately implies that their lyrics are entirely inoffensive. They are not.
anyone's Googling can be highly selective Naomi, depending on what agenda they want to peddle, such as 'Shock horror Glasto is political (started by your generation I believe?) and 'Corbyn introduces a band whose lyrics I find personally offensive' ( well let's thank goodness we don't have censorship in this country- something to be celebrated I would think). It is ever so entertaining watching all the righteous indignation in any event.
Danny....I read the first one but soon gave up....give me Verdi any day !
//Let's thank goodness we don't have censorship in this country.//

But we do, Klavidir.

PS: give me a hint: what have you been in?
Question Author
kvalidir, quite right. Anyone’s googling can be highly selective, but it’s pretty sneaky to attempt to present something as squeaky clean when it isn’t. The rest of your post doesn’t apply to my OP, so I’ll let whoever it concerns respond to that.
No, naomi, what my post suggests is that their lyrics are not ENTIRELY offensive. The point being that, such is the vastness of Glastonbury, no-one is forced to listen to them. My belief is that you opened this thread because you are a tad bored and decided to spend a little time indulging in one of your two favourite hobbies; Labour/Corbyn bashing. Your other hobby, of course, being an apologist for Cameron/May/Whoever next.
Indulge me, I do watch other things than Eastenders.
Question Author
Ken, I opened this thread because the subject matter is 'News'.
