Do You Think It's Odd That Trump Has Stayed Silent On The Quebec City Terrorist Attack?

He was (very rightly) quick off the mark with the Louvre attack, but seems reluctant to publicly condemn the other terrorist attack of last week.

This seems strange - especially for a man who seems to spend a shockingly large amount of time posting his thoughts on Twitter.

Zacs-Master, give over for goodness sake. He's issued a press statement. The OP is wrong.
OG, the whole thread is about Trump himself speaking out via tweets or whatever, not third parties who are paid to trot out the PC response.

I think you're mistaken.

I asked why Trump had stayed silent.

He has.

What you saw was the Press Secretary making a statement, not Trump.

Trump tweets his thoughts left right and centre, and was on Twitter within hours of the Louvre attacks.

That was his personal message.

The press briefing was something else entirely.

It was also used to justify the U.S. ban on Muslims immigration...even though Bissonnette is not a Muslim and not an immigrant.

It literally has nothing to do with the policy.

Nothing at all.

And the Louvre attack was allegedly carried out by an Egyptian. This opens up a massive hole in the presentation of the ban, because Egyptians are NOT banned from entering the U.S.

It's a mess of flat-footed nonsense.
Naomi. The OP isn't wrong. The responses citing his administration rather than the man himself are.
SP, //I asked why Trump had stayed silent. He has. //

He hasn't. He's issued a press statement.

Exactly Zac-Master.

It would have been wrong to suggest that the adminstration had remained silent, but it's correct to refer to Trump's Twitter silence.

That's literally the question.

The thread is about DT staying silent. It was merely thought strange that he did so since he uses Twitter extensively. Turns out his admin gave a statement on his behalf, so he didn't need to.
Zacs-Master, politicians issue press releases. You're scraping the barrel - and so is SP.
People need to be careful in distinguishing the PC press release facade of a president with the man himself. To confuse the two shows more than a little political naivety.
If it's not someone from his designated 'evil countries', it doesn't count.
Naomi - // He hasn't. He's issued a press statement. //

Then why not mention it on Twitter - every other vacuous pointless unconsidered thought from his egotistical mind seems to make its way there - so why not this?
“President Trump expressed his condolences to the Prime Minister and people of Canada following the tragic shooting at the Centre culturel islamique de Québec, located in Québec City, and offered to provide any assistance as needed,” said a statement from Trudeau’s office

No.

Politicians issue press releases, but Trump tweets his opinions, left right and centre.

He's literally never off Twitter.

He tweeted his opinion of the quality of Saturday Night Live sketches at 2:30am during the run up to the election (he didn't like what

So the question remains, why did he go silent on this attack?

Why did he tweet about the Louvre attack, but not this one?

He has 23million followers on Twitter. How many people watch White House press briefings?
This is pathetic.

That's exactly the point.

If he had simply released a press statement about the Louvre too, then there could be no argument that he's being duplicitous.

Trump's tweet after the Louvre attacks:

"A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S."

Trump's tweets after the Quebec City attack:

...

According to the report in the Independent (your link SP) //Mr Trump has not tweeted about or provided a statement on the shooting which rocked Canada and the world.//

…. but had the Independent been less eager to criticise, it would have picked up on the press release that was issued and printed it. It didn’t. It lied.
