It a sad time as we all know Ivor when we go to meet our maker, I do not want my wife to spend a fortune on my leaving, but the both of us will be doing oiur homework on prices, we are not rich but comfortable but neither do we want to get ripped off, if you can advise then to search around for prices it may sound "Cheap" to do so but it's sensible I think.
Funerals are for the ones left behind not the dead.

How would they feel taking home your ashes in a plastic box!

I know exactly what I want and my husband is aware of it, we are not a family to get hung up on weddings and funerals, my father feels the same.
Hi Ivor, it 'can' be very expensive, depends what you want I suppose .. https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/how-much-does-a-funeral-cost#what-is-a-direct-cremation
Try to die in Belfast and not in Beckenham or Nuneaton (among others):

I was charged £95 for my cats ashes!!

I want to be cremated, bury my ashes and plant a tree...
