It seems that Nissan at least have not succumbed to project fear.

What a dour bunch of pessimists we have here. I’m convinced that rather than encourage thriving industry, and hence jobs, some would rather see business go down the tubes just so they can say ‘We told you so’. Miserable lot!

I disagree with bribes Naomi, I never mentioned anything regards the Cons.

I think you are bang on Naomi, the remainics/anti British just want things to go wrong so they can say "I told you so" and look all smug with their EU buddies.
Just to add Naomi, they have just shut a Steel works in the North East, did they get any help?
Naomi,

// Cheer up! Think of all those lovely jobs!! Or would you rather not? //

That's what they said when we gave lorry loads of dosh to keep British Leyland.

TWR, do you agree with 'agreements'? They're quite usual in business.
And so do bribes.
Question Author
Labour used to call it "nationalisation"
Tora,
I take it you have now gone off your stupid idea that the railways should be re-nationalised.
Naomi, an incentive yes, & no, I do not want people out of work but the Steel works should have been given help, as said B.Leyland, R.R. & a few more, but it seems each & every Government seem to help Foreign company's when we have the ability to manufacture here.
Good news for Sunderland ,there is more than enough people out of work in the North East.
It would have been good news if Nissan hadn't threatened to leave in the first place.
They received huge incentives to come here from Thatcher, more government bribes when they made 1200 people redundant and threatened many more redundancies - the government propped them (and other car manufacturers) up by bringing in the hugely expensive car scrappage scheme.
All I can see is 7,000 jobs saved - can't be bad ...

A different thing entirely, but since you mentioned it I found this:

//EU state aid rules prevent the government from helping out the nation's steel companies — EU law strictly prevents parliament from bailing out dying companies.//

You lot are living with permanent little rainclouds hanging over your heads - and all because the referendum didn't produce the result you wanted. Never mind - you'll get used to it.

No, Gromit the railways are one of the things that should be. You have to try and grasp that a policy is not black and white gromit. For some things nationalsation is right mostly it is wrong.
// All I can see is 7,000 jobs saved - can't be bad ... //

At what cost were they saved? If the 'assurances' were soft brexit and a promise to buy ourselves into the single market, would you still say "can't be bad"?

Would you see that happening in China / the USA? not a hope in hell, I voted out on the amount of £££££££££££ that's going to an Unelected shower of robbers.
Can someone tell me what 'bribe' was given.

I have searched but cannot find any reference to one.
How very European of them. Le Backhander.
Still, if everybody else is at it, why not? We don't need another 7000 motivated people and their families with broken lives.
Some people need to catch up with the news. The Gov't have claimed there were no 'backhanders / deals / bribes'.
Oh bless Zacs-Master, you're sweet.
