I'm just coming up to my 45th birthday and I still have two milk teeth. I had no adult eye teeth to push them out, so they just stayed put. Is this common?

Hi zubianne, can't answer your question, but I actually went the other way,and had my wisdom teeth come through by 11!! Didn't do me any good though!! I'm just a bit older than you btw!

Hello lindapinda, I must have wierd teeth - I only had one tiny underdeveloped wisdom tooth which came through when I was in my thirties and was promptly whisked out by my dentist. Though, after seeing my sister in hospital when she had all her wisdom teeth out, I was quite glad not to have any!
hi zubianne, I am the youthful age of 37 and I still have three milk teeth, will let you know in another 8 years if I have beaten you. Mine are all at the bottom and look like double teeth but should be adult single.
I'm 35 and I have one milk tooth.  Like you, there was not another tooth below it to push it out.  I don't know what is holding it in.  I've seen X-rays and the root is non-existant.

Yes, I saw my x-rays and there is virtually nothing above the line of the gums. I'm always very careful with the teeth, they feel quite 'unsafe' and I'm sure one day I'll bite on an apple and they'll just come out!
Hi zubianne, I had a milk tooth till I was 28 which I hated because in photos it looked gappy so I pulled it out...stupid I know but my dentist wouldn't do anything(but when it 'fell'out he made me a falsie)...My dentist said it wasn't uncommon though as 1:5 people have them..I also had all 4 wisdom teeth by age 18..

Hello JoAnnMul, Ouch, that must have hurt! My teeth are that gappy because the bottom ones have grown up to meet them (upside down vampire fangs!)
Question Author
Sorry, I meant they aren't that gappy!
no pain zubianne I'd had quite a bit of vodka at the time regreted it in the morning though !!
