I think the rules for party leaders may be more restrictive, agchristie, since they're chosen by a more restricted electorate.

The only thing that would annoy me about politicians' sex lives is if they were failing to practise their own preachings. And I'm not even all that cross about Major calling for "back to basics" while canoodling with Currie, party leader or not.
THECORBYLOON

No, now you are just being silly.

But they do say that capturing the 'ethnic vote' is certainly a vote winner, wasn't that the idea behind Labour's mass immigration policy?

Jno > I think the rules for party leaders may be more restrictive...

You mean, like missing the nominations deadline by a few minutes? :)
Why am I being silly yet your saying he did well because white folk are in the minority is sensible?
jno

/// And I'm not even all that cross about Major calling for "back to basics" while canoodling with Currie, party leader or not. ///

And isn't that classed as "back to basics" by a good few these days?
lol, I haven't met her, aog, so I really couldn't say...

/// Why am I being silly yet your saying he did well because white folk are in the minority is sensible? ///

Keith Vaz is not only Labour, but also of Indian parentage, and Leicester has a high percentage of Indians and other such ethnics.

Please try and keep up, it's not rocket science.
I apologise jno that was meant for THECORBYLOON
For someone who regularly gets his truss in a twist about being accused of being a racist......you certainly have the thought processes, and the language, of racists, AOG.

It is very unpleasant to read...
jackthehat

/// you certainly have the thought processes, and the language, of racists, AOG. ///

You forgot to include, "in my opinion".

When the race card is played against me, I automatically know that I have jangled some very raw nerves on the likes of you.

/// It is very unpleasant to read... ///

Then the solution is very simple, don't bother if it is so unpleasant for you, it must be those raw nerves.
Jack, stop it!! My eyes are watering here.
AOG....(14:41 )....

As DTC has pointed out, whites represent about a third of the population, but the Tories accounted for only 23% of the popular vote.

And guess what.....the Tory candidate was a chap called Kishan Devani, another non-white !

So, its not the ethnicity the candidate that won the day in May 2015.....it was because he was a Labour candidate.

Apart from a brief period in 1983, its been a safe Labour seat since 1945, long before most of the Asian population moved there. Even in the 1920's, it was a Labour seat.

Lets face it, if the Tories were more popular in Leicester, they might have held the seat more often.
No raw nerves here, AOG.

But I think the small patch of ground upon which you make your usual 'I'm not a racist, I just tell it like it is' stand, is getting smaller and smaller....
ANOTHEOLDGIT, had you not used the "race card" when you said Vaz had increased his majority because of the number of non-whites in Leicester and the fact he had Indian parents and there is a high percentage of Indians in Leicester?
Another thread that has nothing to do with race, hijacked...
It's been said in this thread that K V is a Catholic. Personally, I do Not understand how religion has any bearing on matters, apart from perhaps....It is said that there is No religion below the navel.

Hans.
Hans, I made a joke thinking he was muslim. I then happily corrected our readers of my mistake, when I realised he was RC.
I'm not sure Roman Catholics and homosexual acts between men is that inconnected :-)
How humiliating for his wife and kids - what was he thinking!
He was thinking it wouldn't get plastered all over the media...
@Gromit....There must be a link-up somewhere !!

Hans.
