Arithmetic Isn't My Strong Point...

I recently saw a video clip of an Indian chef, who said that any Indian cook will be able to get 8 different flavours from any individual spice.
So, I was idly wondering, supposing he was making a curry with 6 different spices, would that mean it would be possible to get 373,248 different flavour combinations?
8x8x8x8x8x8 = 373,248?
TIA.

In theory, yes, but that assumes that the 8 flavours in any one spice are not reduplicated in any of the other 5.

Perhaps they're all the same 8 flavours ;-)
They would all be the same though! 8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 = the number of different curries you could make with 8 different spices.

there's a curry house round here that manages to get 373,248 flavours to all taste the same!
That's just chef talk. You have done your arithmetic properly :d.
