thoughts? Shrug.
People here who are under the impression that Mr Farage is about to disappear in a puff of smoke – wishful thinking for many no doubt – need to calm down and have a little think about it. He’s not actually going anywhere at the moment. He has resigned as leader of the party – he hasn’t resigned from politics. As for Mikey’s extraordinary claim that Mr Farage is a ‘failed ex-leader’, look at the result of the referendum, Mikey. Failed? I think not.
Oh I don't think we have seen the last of him, maybe form a new party, no way is he giving up an opportunity to grace our TV screens and other media !!!!!!
Anne...listen to what he has to say ::::

"I have never been, and I have never wanted to be a career politician"

Although that doesn't really explain why he tried so often and failed to get into the House of Commons !

But I must give him credit where it is due. He has said, many, many times, that his job will be complete when he had brought forward a Referendum on our EU membership. This he had a large part in bringing about, and now that we have voted to leave, he can see no reason to remain in politics, and so has resigned.

Not quite sure why he didn't do that on the morning of Friday 24th June though. He has obvious talents, and I presume that he now intends to go back into business full-time again.

Whether UKIP can survive without him remains to be seen.
Providing May follows through, UKIP no longer need to exist.

Unless of course they morf into the United Kingdom Labour Party perhaps?
Mmmm, didnt word that quite correctly. I should have said 'follows through with the Brexit'

The next elections to the EP are not for another three years so Nigel will stay MEP until we are out.
Mikey, //he can see no reason to remain in politics, and so has resigned. //

He - has - not - resigned - from - politics ....

....he - has - resigned - as leader - of - UKIP.

I've spaced that out a bit in the hope that it might encourage you to try to understand what has actually happened - rather than remain wallowing in reveries of what you would like to have happened.
Yes Mikey, I know that, that's why I put "if".
I have asked EDDIE where he got the information from that NF has been told that he will not be taking part in the discussions of the terms of leaving the EU. If someone has said that I have missed it. I am just asking the question, I didn't say he should or shouldn't be involved. Neither EDDIE nor you have answered my question.
Ladybird....All I can see is that they wouldn't allow him to join the official BREXIT group, and nobody is queueing up to employ him in any capacity in the LEAVE negotiating Team.

Sorry if I didn't make that clear !

Perhaps somebody can unearth some real opposition to include Farage, instead of keeping him at arm's length ?
Mikey, I know you’re not talking to me – and actually I’m rather enjoying it – no opposition you see, so thank you for that – but I do hope you read my post at 12:32. I wouldn’t like to see you continuing to give the impression that you don’t have the foggiest idea about what’s really going on. :o)
woo hoo
Islay, he hasn't gone.
I think he may also need to take a breather for the sake of his health, he is in constant pain and on strong medication - recent events must have been very wearying.
odious creep of a man - I will party now and again when he goes!
Thanks Mikey. Nobody can be queueing for him to join the exit negotiating team because we don't know who's going to be in charge yet. Phew this is hard work.

So you don't know the answer to my question.
No ladybirder...I don't, beyond what I have already said.

Perhaps the fact that he made himself so unpopular, for so long, that people are just glad to see the back of him !
So unpopular? Not from where I'm standing.
Mamy is right...he has been in constant pain since that aircraft crash in 2010.

Having had bad back pain myself in the past, and still suffer now and then,
I have every sympathy for him.

///made himself so unpopular///

Does seem to have been on the winning side though, to be fair.
