Nothing short of thieving scumbags.

A London marathon spokesman has stated that "any spare water that was not drunk during the marathon was supposed to have been returned to the organisers to use at other events" Maybe it was a training exorcise for the forthcoming annual summer riots and looting events.
Unused bottles are used at other events...its theft by the local species....simple as that.

svjek's double entendre was quite superb.....unless you know the area you won't realise how clever it was..its a double double entendre !
I did see it baz made me laugh. I didn't catch it until earlier this morning though. Deptford market.(^_*)
The tap water in London is rank. !!!!
Darn site better than the country of origin of these felons no doubt. They are not stealing it en masse because they are thirsty!!
Typical opportunist brazen thieves.
Ugly scenes, shameful.
//The tap water in London is rank. !!!! //

I'm sure it has been passed by the local authorities.
:-)
six times on average i believe togo !
Please donate a £ so Leroy,Winston, and Moses can hop on to a bus to Deptford and nick potable water from the Marathon because kids have to drink London tap water every day!!
I know someone who was there.....bystanders were OFFERED the water once it was evident that there was more left than the runners would need.
Interesting information Woofgang.
///I'd put money on them not being British///
Any evidence of this?
woofgang

Is that right?

Was that at Deptford or somewhere else.

Apologies for diverting this thread but this story hinges on whether the 'thieves' were told they could take the water or not.

I wonder if there were any portable loo's left, they would make a spare bedroom for some of the residents?
//"It's very disappointing to see water being stolen in this way from the official water stations for our runners," said Hugh Brasher, event director for London Marathon Events Ltd.

"These water stations are staffed by volunteers and we are very grateful to them for their work on race day."//

What part of the word 'stolen', as quoted by the organiser above, can not be understood.? If he organises the event every year he should know if it is theft or not!
sp I will post it again. To save you the bother of reading all the thread, and to deny you the opportunity of ignoring the points that you dislike.
//A London marathon spokesman has stated that "any spare water that was not drunk during the marathon was supposed to have been returned to the organisers to use at other events"//
I don’t know where my friend was but she was by one of the water facilities (obviously). Once the bulk of the runners had passed, she HEARD the crowd being offered the water. No idea whether the volunteers should have done that or not. She saw the pictures on facebook and was very annoyed at what she saw as people being unfairly accused of theft. I take no interest in the marathon and knew nothing about it until I saw her post on facebook. She is not a liar or a dramallama.
//Once the bulk of the runners had passed, she HEARD the crowd being offered the water//

Was that perhaps a bottle to slake their thirst out of concern, or an invitation to remove it in bulk using the shopping trollies provided I wonder.
