Question Author
Who would you nominate?

Some of the letters under the article are worth reading. (if they're still there)
I tend to nominate voluntary workers , not that those who are paid for their works are any less deserving but they often get accolades within their profession.

Some interesting choices in the Guardian list from many fields.
Question Author
Reckon i'd go along with some of the letter writers. The chaps who disarmed the terrorist on the French(Belgian?) train.
Your link, as posted only goes to a picture gallery. (Well, it does for me in Firefox anyway!).

People might find this link better:

Why's cup-cake on it?
Doesn't it give some blurb on each person?

PS Have not a clue who cup-cake is.
Question Author
Alright, nadya the cupcake maker for the pedants. Why would she be on an 'honours list'?
Well, you, I or indeed anyone could make a list - in this case a newspaper has and given their reasons.

It's not exactly official is it? Like the one we can nominate on.
These are their reasons...

//It’s been a bleak year for British Muslims: terrorist atrocities abroad have led to increased suspicion and attacks on Muslim communities at home. But at least there was Nadiya Hussain, the new queen of cakes. From her cheeky asides and girl-next-door charm to her union flag, sari wedding cake showstopper, she was the perfect riposte to those suggesting British Muslims are insufficiently patriotic or integrated. Winning our hearts through our stomachs (and an impressive set of eyebrows), her presence on the Great British Bake Off was as soothing as a cup of tea.//

I could nominate the tea lady at my GP's surgery and it would mean nothing to you - but Nadiya has been in the public eye.

I have no idea what remit this particular paper used to choose the people on their list.

Question Author
Oh right, she was chosen because she's a muslim then.
What religion was last year's winner?
it's deliberately set up as an alternative to the official list, which it seems will include a knighthood for the apparatchik who got Cameron back into power (what a benefactor to the nation!). That's where you'll find your "normal white Tories".
//What religion was last year's winner?//

You'd have to check the Guardian from last year wouldn't you?

I don't read the papers.
I think they might be a bit premature with their 'volunteer' nomination. Let's see what heros/ heroins come out of the floods.
I have not seen blacker more muslim faces than that red haired who does alright on the night - emma watson the famously caribbean lead of Harry Potter - and the rest

the point would be OK Schweik if the evidence fitted the hypothesis

who would I nominate

AOG amd Oliver Letwin a seat in the Lords - for telling the TRUTH about race relations....

Schweik and Adolf Hitler for ability to put over a point bolstered by HARD evidence to the huddled masses

Retrochic and La Pasionara for ability to communicate with Lefties......
I have spoofed a spoof list ?

you mean Emma Watson will not get a knighthood ? FIIIIIIIIX!
Question Author
The religion of last year's cupcake maker, mamya? Don't know, don't worry about it, nobody does. Your faux confusion act is getting rather tiresome on this thread. Sometimes less is more.
Question Author
We won the Davis Cup (I think) for the first time in ages.
Ditto the World Heavyweight Boxing Title.
Did we win the Tour de France this year?
Formula 1 title.
But according to this rag, the men have been so useless this year that the 'sporting achievement' award goes to some bird that plays soccer. Even though Newport County could put 50 goals past her team. (with their boot laces tied together)
Right - Your question is that case must have been 'Who won bake-off last year and what was their religion'.

I have no idea I don't watch it , I am sure any decent search engine will tell you.

If question were worded fully then maybe my confusion would be less - 'faux' my rear end!!
