Does that make sense? Shouldn't it read: 'Face your fears: what you don't resist, will persist.'?

I see it as we avoid what we fear. So if we keep on avoiding whatever scares us the fear of it will remain.
I see as Robinia sees it.
If you dont have a fear of spiders, you wont notice them. The fear wont persist.

depends what "resist" means. If it means "avoid facing your fear" then it will persist. If it means "stand up to something you fear" then it won't persist.
I also have family members living in Bradford and Keighley and I regularly travel around those areas without problem.
