I think the general opinion is that the public have a greater right to know who they are with than the individual has to hide their identity, so no, this should be discouraged not allowed.
No !
Personally, no.
Nope, nobody should be teaching a child with their face covered.
No.
When in the classroom and dealing with the children it is not unreasonable that they should be required to remove to their veils.

So - NO
Rowan Williams is deluded, but then he is the ex-archbishop of canterbury so has made a career from hearing voices and propagating fairy stories.

perhaps the next time he calls the Police or some other 'authority figure', he won't mind if the officers attending are all wearing face masks and concealing their faces?
And nor are veiled schoolteachers
We have discussed this before here on AB.

Its just daft to suppose that a Teacher can take a class of kids, with only her eyes showing. If people want to wear a headscarf, I can't see the problem...after all most of my Teachers were nuns in full habit, but at least you could see their faces.
no.
No-for practical reasons. Casual clothes, tattoos, piercings, dyed hair make no difference on a good teacher. Covering your face ruins effective communication.
I'd sooner have Daleks teaching. At least they'd be funny. 'STOP TALKING NIGEL . OR . YOU . WILL . BE . EX-TER-MINATED'
Nick Clegg: 'Un-British to tell people what they can wear'

Why do I have to spend fortunes on school uniforms then?

No. If it's ok for teacher to cover their face it should be ok for little johnny to do the same..

I've never agreed with anything Williams has ever said. He is totally out of touch with reality and the 21st century.
As pixie points out, communication for children is almost entirely based on facial expressions, which children sub-conciously read.

It's all very well for Galdalf to talk about 'reading differently' but that's because he is a right-on sandal-wearing lentil-steamer, and more importantaly, an adult.

An adult may well be able to inpterpet messages from eye-contact alone, but small children entirely lack that experience and sophistication to be able to do the same.

Not for the first time, he is way off track, and I can almost hear his slow measured sanctimonious voice telling us all we are worrying for nothing.

Back here on planet earth, we have to deal with reality.
Billy Connolly once said that the hallmark of the 'reasoned' but always deeply flased points made by clergy was, that they prefaced everything they say with "And do you know ...?'

I bet Rowan Williams does!!!
Jeepers - definitely not - what about the like of myself who completely depended on lip-reading right through all of my school years.

Still have difficulties lipreading a man with a moustache.
Bearded loon #1.
Wasn't there a teacher who was sacked last week for having visible tattoos?
