They've secured a conviction, of sorts, without all the costs of a trial. Maybe that's enough for the CPS but it's a disgrace.
The only consolation is that in prison he will find himself at the bottom of the heap as crimes are concerned.

He is scum and will be treated like scum.
Yes Sandy, the main consideration seems to be that he's saved them time and money by admitting the murder, so he's rewarded by getting a 4 year sentence. (9 = 4 in reality).
9 years for killing a toddler with horrendous injuries, I despair.
. . . and after little more than four years may be free again into society.

Disgraceful.
now just how much force must this man have used to lacerate this baby's liver, not to mention severe head injuries,
// and after little more than four years may be free again into society. //

Yes, but the people determining the sentence have obviously taken into account the fact that he's the type of person that never go anywhere near their neighbourhood, so from that point of view he's very safe.
Very true Ludwig. Unlike the guy in India who was beaten and then detached from his 'bits' after abusing a young girl.

That's the way to do it!

As ever in such cases, one hopes that proper prison justice will befall him...........
well, I would never condone violence in prison or anywhere really.but in this case I'm ashamed to say I hope his life in prison is horrendous,
// finally admitted that he and only he was involved in Kacey's tragic death. //

Yes divebuddy, I take that to mean that for a while he was trying to blame the mother, at least partly, but eventually came clean.

As I said, he seems to have been rewarded for that, when in fact it should have had the opposite effect, as trying to lay the blame on someone else makes his behaviour even more despicable in my opinion.

truth be known though, it's only another baby/child murder, now if it had been an animal ?

you know what I mean divebuddy, animal cruelty sometimes gers more publicity than a childs death,

4 years and then free to re-offend? How does that measure up to sentences for other crimes?
^ your opening sentence is a question nobody can answer.

If he received a life sentence then we wouldn't have to worry about him re-offending and potentially causing serious harm to someone else.

I don't know what the sentencing guidelines are for this kind of crime. Its manslaughter, not murder and he has been given 9 years for it. The sentencing would have been up to the Judge after all.

By the way, there is no guarantee that he will only serve 4 years out of his 9. Whether he gets time off his sentence will depend on how he behaves in prison. All that I have seen seems to suggest that he has a anger-management problem, so who knows ?
