Motorist Punches Boy In The Fact...twice

Odd story this. It appears that the motorist was seen to be driving a Nissan Elgrand. I had never heard of this model, so I googled it. It must be a very rare car in Britain and even more rare in South Wales, so I can't understand why the Police haven't managed to locate the driver, in the 3 days since this serious assault happened on Saturday. The local paper has a photo of the vehicle and I can't see the number plate but I am sure that the Police could detect it, using the same technology that is used in the dozens of Safety Camera vehicles that are on our roads ::

Of course it's deplorable, it's assault and does the excuse for a grown man no favours - a ticking off or a picture on mobile and call the police to ask if they'd speak to the boy is fine. I love the comments of 'Sweet now but what if....' shall we apply that to all wrongdoings ?

a) doubt the incident happened at all.
b) if it did, why did his mates run away(after chucking stones at cars, kids don't throw sweets. But they do lie) but that kid stayed there. Could it be that his parents taught him his expletive ridden rights.
c)why are the pious, holier than thou brigade on here so damned rude all the time.

I think kids do throw sweets, but neither of us were there, so we can't comment.

I doubt that any child caught misbehaving would hang around to argue his rights, more likely he was just too frigthened to run.

I suspect that if you are the sort of kid that does that, then you are likely to be the sort of rebel that doesn't give a darn about authority at all. The, "can't touch me, I do as I like and you can't do anything about it", type. And so whilst it is true a kid can be naughty on one occasion, and this might be such a situation, I think it naive to assume that is so.
As a kid I knew of other kids who acted just like that, and they were best avoided. They always seemed to get away with anything which taught me at a young age that society wasn't fair, and authority comes down on the good guy who strays across a line rather than the bad guy; probably because it is easier.
All concerned are IMO likely to be guilty of something, I don't see why one should make excuses for some. The driver does need to be caught, but that doesn't exonerate others.

The story is that the kids were throwing chocolate sweets into the road, to see if cars would run over them. I don't know what sort of chocolates they were but were probably M+M's rather than Quality Street or Black Magic.
Not quite the same as kids sitting on railway bridges and throwing bricks at trains, which unfortunately does occur, especially in the School hols. One chocolate accidently hit the car. Pretty minor incident, until the driver decided to assault the boy. I have a contact within the South Wales Police and she tells me that this man is being urgently searched for, as they fear that something much more severe could occur in the future. I agree as he clearly has a problem controlling his temper.

Children do daft things, it's part of being a child.
When I was in junior school, the local colliery trains ran past the low wall the separated the line from our playground - no H & S in 1960's schools.
We would regularly hop over the wall and place old-style pennies on the line to watch the loco crush them?
