It is reported that this list was compiled by R4's Woman's Hour, does that really mean the BBC, because I can never remember a public vote on it?

Perhaps they invited listeners to Woman's Hour to vote?
Was this on April 1st - someone is joking.
Who do you think was the most deserving AOG?
shrug.

In the list of those eligible Professor Nazneen Rahman, who do you?
Would you have posted this if Doreen Lawrence wasn't on the list? I very much doubt it...

clearly it is not the BBC

it's Woman Hour, one programme on R4 with a specific remit

Woman's Hour is not THE bbc

Whenever I'm in the car 10.00 - 11.00 they seem to be discussing orgasms or baking

I'd be more interested in their list of women who bake orgasmic cakes

Yes I would have even posted on this if Maria Miller had been on the list.
I'm torn between Dame Doreen Lawrence, Francesca Martinez and as an outsider Julie Bentley.

Having said that Julie Bentley gets my vote as her organisation can address both issues Lawrence and Martinez fight for.
What an inspirational set of women.

To me, it looks like a list of strong women who have stood up and made a difference. In this world of TOWIE, Katy Price, Amy Childs, Kim Kardashian, Made In Chelsea etc, it's good to see some light thrown on women who through hard work, actually make a difference.

And no - I wouldn't expect anything different from the BBC's Woman's Hour.

Just like if the same list were compiled by Channel Five, I wouldn't be surprised to see the list dominated by WAGs, soap opera actresses and vacant-eyed wannabes who spend their lives alternating between 'I'm A Celebrity', 'Strictly' and 'Celebrity Juice'.
woman's hour is crap. I know that much.
It does seem to have a certain world weary sameyness in its earnest crusade on behalf of the wimmin.
Having said that I can only listen to about 5 minutes of Ms Murray before her unique delivery has me consciously taking deep breaths.

Coming soon, apparently.
anyone who regularly listens must be thick as two short planks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or, maybe, a woman. ;-)
The 'Everyday Sexism' founder's a bit of alright isn't she? Phwoaaar! I definitely would.
Two thinly disguised gibes at Baroness Lawrence in a few days ! Well done !
Do you have a secret agenda aog ?

As ummm has already replied, would you have posted this if the winner hadn't been Baroness Lawrence ?
Svejk...I am not sure if Women's Hours is crap or not, although as mere men, we may not be the best people to judge. I will say this however, it has the power to disturb, that's for sure.

eg...a few years ago I was driving on that hateful piece of Motorway, where the M5 joins the M6 at Wednesbury, my most unfavourite part of any journey, where you have to have eyes in the back of your head in order to survive the experience. It was pouring with rain and huge lorries were bearing down upon my little Fiesta from every direction. I turned the radio on, and as it is permanently set to radio 4, immediately tuned into a Woman's Hour discussion about vaginal dryness.

It took all my skill as a motorist to keep control of the car. I am a elderly bachelor and really have no desire to listen to a lot of women wittering away about their private parts, dry or soggy, at least not at 10:30 in the morning.

I shall probably get into trouble with the AB Sisterhood for telling this story, but I have broad shoulders.

truly pathetic and another sign of the pc disease thats riddled the country.

And as for most powerful woman...hahahahaha, whoever the voters were, its damn hilarious
errrrr...I think I understand what you are saying ?
