imagine the future walking home at night with no smelly drunks emptying their kebab and eights pints all over the pavement less people run over by drunken drivers, less fights and no need to have bouncers at your local a and e at the weekends

Extrapolating that a small rise in the number of alcohol free bars will lead to alcohol free towns and cities is a bit of an incredulous jump.

boxy have a read of this

> ENGLAND fans will be allowed to smoke dope before Sunday’s crunch clash with France — to keep them calm.

Cops in Lisbon plan to crack down on drunk supporters while turning a blind eye to those spotted puffing on a spliff.

Pot-smoking fans have been assured they will not be arrested, cautioned — or even have their drugs confiscated.

Last night experts said the Portuguese police’s “Here We Blow” policy would reduce chances of a punch-up between rival fans.

Alan Buffry of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance said: “If people are drinking they lose control, if they smoke cannabis they don’t.

“Alcohol makes fans fight. But cannabis smokers will be shaking hands and singing along together.”

Dutch police used a similar policy in Euro 2000 and England’s hooligan element were too stoned to fight.

A Lisbon police spokeswoman said: “If people cause a problem through drugs and become a menace then police will take action. But when this doesn’t happen why should the police be the ones makin
g the fuss?”

More than 600 officers will be on duty for England’s opening group game at Lisbon’s Stadium of Light.

Fans who seem to be drunk may be breath-tested and refused entry.

I don't know 'Doctor'. :0)

So are you advocating the use of cannabis as a replacement for alcohol?

zac would that not depend on how strong the space cakes are seeing as we have a smoking ban inside buildings
I'm not sure I'm following you at all today Doc. Have you been on the weed?
DrFilth

It won't keep drunks off the street, because those wishing to go out on the lash won't go to alcohol-free bars.
Question Author
zac i have been reading a few posts from the last few days and that could be true about some of them -)

If you think a few people sipping orange juice will solve the problem, you are seriously deluded imo!

Baldric it will not have an immediate effect but at least some are trying to help make this world a better healthier place do you not agree
If they do take off how long will it be before some will be calling for them to close due to the high sugar content of the drinks?

The very name of it 'Redemption bar' gives a clue to the attitude of it's patronising founder, what's the next one going to be, The Tree Huggers?
Cloud Cuckoo Land would be a good name.
