jake....I agree but there is no wide-spread evidence that it is happening. Its a spurious and dishonest argument that is sometime put about by people that don't want any foreigners in Britain, for xenophobic and sometime racist reasons.
I have made the following point time and time again here on AB. The majority of these migrants are coming here to work, because there vacancies to fill. We have plenty of long-term unemployed but they prefer to be dole-bludgers, rather than work, and our current Social Security system encourages them, rather than actively finding them work. I am far from a supporter of this current Tory-led so-called coalition government, but they do, at last seem to be doing something about our culture of welfare dependency.

one area i know quite well in the capital, Eastern Europeans hang out looking for a days work, they won't come up on the radar of tax, insurance. i was curious, and asked someone about them. we were queuing outside a large DIY store. He told me it was a pick up place for casual workers, mostly Eastern European, unskilled labourers, perhaps painters, and they are there every day, not necessarily the same ones. The police move them on, but they just loiter there, don't know if they get work or not, but it's not safe for them, if they get work they have no protection whatsoever. the people who may take them on will pay them cash in hand.

And for a number of people I believe that they are promised work, a place to stay, etc and once they have paid for the travel, none of this materialises.
I've never been courageous enough to do it but a number of friends in our 20s headed off to far flung places with few plans beyond the first few days and in all cases it turned out well for them - for them having the gumption to do that in the first place gave them a good foundation in it working out for them.

so no one is on the dole apart from the poor old British...
as to going to a place to work, one thing generally is you won't get a raft of benefits if you come unstuck if you move to Australia, America, NZ, or many places across the world, you won't get free medical care, whilst we are a tolerant nation and will provide those for you, if in the EU you can claim some form of benefit after 3 months in the country, oh dear, isn't that what Cameron said...

By the way, our lazy and feckless don't only get the dole, and other benefits...they also get their stamp paid. So they can start breeding in thier mid-teens, dole-bludge until their 60's and then get a State Retirement pension until they die !

These are the usual stupid accusations, made by those who are not prepared to accept that while some small amounts of certain skilled immigrants are a value to this country, mass immigration on the scale that we in this country has had forced upon us, is of no benefit to us whatsoever unless of course they happen to help some to make their fortunes by having a regular source of cheap labour.
Before you cast out your insulting accusations of xenophobia and racism, look at the larger picture, the need to provide accommodation for these people when our own are finding it increasingly difficult to find affordable housing, the lack of school places, the drain on the already overstretched NHS, the extended wait to obtain a doctor's appointment, the crowded A & E facilities and maternity places, the additional cost of providing Benefits, interpreters etc. all of these on top of the sheer overcrowding in certain areas of the UK.
Nothing at all to do with xenophobia or racism, but everything to do with common sense reasoning.

on chap interviewed on the morning news, sorry i can't remember if he was a councillor, from Hunstanton? said that their borough, council paid a high price the last time with the huge influx of Polish peoples , because the councils budgets were being cut, they didn't have so much to spend, but had to accommodate up to 1,000 new school spaces for the Polish children, so the same must be said the any more entering the UK, you don't just get one person, who may or not have a job, you perhaps will also get the family, who will need schools, medical care, and homes, don't some see that.

You have shown this as being true with your constant criticism of your fellow countrymen. Yes we all know that we have our own problems with some of our work-shy, but you use it in defence of unnecessary addition problems caused solely by mass immigration to this country.
If the actions of some of your fellow countrymen upset you so much then why not start up a specific thread on this issue?
