The things (5 years old) have to take something into school that represents a group they belong to - this could be a team, a group or their family (not that I know any 5 year olds that belong to a group or team). Anyway, they will have to take in something that represents 'family' and I can't think of anything (or I can't think of two things in this case). Anyone got any idea (I seem to be having a particularly stupid day today).

Do you play any games with them as a family? Something like a board game?
Photos, swimming(or something) certificates, that you took them to?
I guess a family photo could suffice if you can't think of anything else.
A Christmas ornament? souvenir from your last day out together? Photo of a family favourite meal?
A birthday card received from Mum and Dad (or from a grandparent or sibling)?

. . .or, most obviously, a photograph of the family together?
Is there anything family wise which has been passed down like a christening gown they have all worn, maybe one of you and other relatives?

There's a baby grow that they have all worn (on purpose so I could say they have) but there is only one.
You could let one of them take in a photo of it rather than the real thing if it's something precious?
My grandson took photos of his granddads racing pigeons, some cups that they had won and gave his classmates a talk about the pigeons. They were really interested .
Another time he took a couple of my paintings.
I'm sure that someone in your family can come up with something.
Good luck!
Bit more random but is there anything like a family crest for your surname?

This is proving to be really tricky, I don't remember the others having to do this.
sports strip, flag, car emblem, church newsletter or mum & dad's winners goblet for 3 legged race ;)
Have you got a family pet, they could take in a photo or a drinking bowl?
I'd be tempted to take the siblings in - stop them having these bright ideas in future!
Yeah sher - let them take you, you can't get more family than that!
This is sort of tongue in cheek, but I would love to see the expression on the teacher's face if your kids took in a piece of cardboard with those stupid stick figures representing a family glued to it. You know, those ridiculous things that some people stick on the back of their vans, sometimes even including a "stick" dog:)

I don't think the teachers think these things through sometimes. I shall have to have a trawl in the garage tomorrow and see what I can find (then I will just have to persuade each thing to accept the chosen items).
Sorry, I never let mine take anything personal, schools are notorious gatherers of personal information.
what personal information can you gather from an old babygrow?
NOT the babygrow, the other more personal stuff.
