All those Muslim ladies and not a Niqab in sight, but notice their non tolerance towards the other Miss World contest.

/// Meanwhile in Bali, the mainstream pageant was subject to protests by hard-line Muslims within the world's most populous Muslim country, even though organisers relented and agreed to cancel the bikini round. ///

/// Moreover, its final - held on 28 September - was due to take place in Jakarta, but it has now been agreed that the whole pageant will take place in Bali, a Hindu-majority island, where armed police are on high alert following warnings that the contest could be a target for terror attacks. ///

/// The British Embassy said that 'local Islamist vigilante groups have threatened to hold large-scale demonstrations to disrupt the Miss World pageant', adding 'extremist groups may also be planning to attack the
event'. ///

but its not compulsory to wear a niqab to be a muslim
But is it compulsory to be muslim to wear one?
I have not seen any non muslims in one - so perhaps its not as 'liberating' as some would have us believe
CB 'v' News = a massive difference.

You take a stance on rudeness. Heed your own advice!!

we have freedom of choice when i comes to clothing in this country - some brides wear veils, i would happily make a reasonable assumption that they are not all muslim
Burkas are very cheap on eBay. Give it a go.
/some brides wear veils/

aren't they usually see-through?

very un-islamic
Some very pretty girls in that competition, and why shouldn't they celebrate that. I always feel sorry for the women who wear covers over their faces, for whatever reasons, religious or otherwise. I think its the most natural thing in the world for a woman to want to look attractive.
AOG

Hoisted once again.
well, I waded all through this thread, the girls look beautiful in some lovely garments. Bit of a non-story really.
What a lot of personal digs, for something that has been discussed here a lot.
I think a beauty contest with niqabs would be very interesting. In all honesty, i don't agree with niqabs or beauty contests particularly. It seems to go from one extreme to another. But not all Muslims wear niqabs, so to lump everybody in together as having the same values, obviously doesn't work. I doubt you would have all Christians in agreement on every subject, either.
AOG

Do you kinda lose interest in your threads when your acolytes aren't around and all you get is the liberal wing of AB shouting their (our) usual leftie claptrap?
Yes there are a lot of personal digs Pixie, happens all the time when AOG, post anything, more accurately described as bullying by the usual bullies here.
It does look like bullying to me. He seems to be the only one who gets those kinds of responses. I'm surprised, as i normally have a lot of respect for those posters, but you don't need a direct question to join in a conversation. Quite shocked, to be honest.
Yeap, most annoying and it just goes on and on and on.
Still don't get what 'debate' you were encouraging, AOG. It is only a custom, not a religious requirement, for some Muslim women to wear the niqab; something explained by an Imam in a letter to the Times, which I gave in full in another post. Do you not accept that? Why, then, do you expect us to comment on the niqab here?

And anyone could hold such a Muslim- only contest here. It would be perfectly legal. Did you not know that?
A completely daft thread this, but most entertaining :-)

On the subject of rudeness, I'm afraid I have to say the prize has to go to the OP.
Orderlimit

Bullying???

The question raised doesn't actually make sense.
Orderlimit

This is the unfathomable statement:

"All those Muslim ladies and not a Niqab in sight, but notice their non tolerance towards the other Miss World contest."

See what I mean?

Who are 'they'?

The organisers of this beauty pageant?

Or a a completely different set of Muslims???
Question Author
Thank you so much Orderlimit & pixie373 for your support, it is a pity that the adjudicators do not also see what goes off and put a stop to it before it gets this far.

But sp1814 got it about right when he described it as 'USUAL LEFTIE CLAPTRAP'
Excuse me but your critisism of me and my intelligence was absolutley uncalled for and incorrect.
Please don't bleat about being picked on!
