Dinner Lady...the Other Side Of The Story

Remember earlier this week, when we discussed the sacking of the dinner lady who served the Muslim kid gammon and was subsequently sack?

Some of us commented that the story (as reported by the Daily Mail), seemed 'wrong'.

Does this now change anyone's opinion one the story?

The news headlines are about someone being sacked, not about a child eating pork or a vegetarian eating meat.

If the parents had paid for a terms worth of lunches in advance the child could have chosen to not have the packed lunch her parents sent her with.

Possibly just possibly the child in question took a packed lunch to school but seeing the other children having something more appetizing decided to chance her luck & joined the dinner queue, the headmistress seeing what the child had on her plate whipped it off her sharpish thinking that she was doing the correct thing. Storm in a teacup. I am more concerned reading that most schools are buying in Halal meat rather than having to have both Halal & regular meat products without letting all the parents know about this.

The Christian debate about gay marriage primarily originates from within the church itself. They are divided. Some what to do it, and the traditionalists are against it. The comments from us outside the church usually favour one side or the other, but are a reaction to events as they occur.

There is no debate in the muslim faith about homosexuality or gay marriage, so there is no debate for us to join in with.

That is not to say that there are no criticism of it on AB

Brilliant summing up by the Judge, it is amazing how much support the Muslim religion receives on AnswerBank, while the Christian Church and it's beliefs are mainly castigated.

I have no idea why gay marriage has been introduced to this thread.

However, I believe the reason why Christians have had been 'castigated' (good grief), is because Christians have shouted loudest in opposition of same sex unions.

Christians shouted loudest in opposition of the Civil Partnership Bill back in 2004.

We all know that other religions are hostile to gays, but Christians in th UK have by FAR been the most vocal.

Indeed, it's surprising, given the MASSIVE hostility that Islam has to gays that British Muslims have been relatively quiet on the subject.

My suspicion (backed up with nothing), is that Muslims don't see it as 'their problem'.

But that's nothing to do with this thread...that's a simple derailment to talk about Muslims in general, and THIS thread is more to do with why a particular dinner lady got sacked...and how the press misrepresent fact.

I literally don't know how you could ask that, when I have clearly stated that its best never to trust a single news source, especially when he story can be 'spun'. I don't understand your thinking. The Daily Mail spins stories about Muslims and (for example) The Mirror will put a negative spin on stories concerning the Coalition (or the Conservatives).

All newspapers have written and unwritten policies, and will spin a story in order to satisfy its readership. It's common sense, and I'm sure you understand that.

Secondly, in what way is any of this 'supporting' Muslims?

Just because I believe the dinner lady was in the wrong has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims. It's because she was in the wrong.

In fact, the story is about a woman being sacked after a series of failures. That's the fact of the story that the Daily Mail didn't want us to know.

Why did they omit that part?

NJ, the story isn't just been about someone being sacked. If pork had been served to a non-Muslim, there would have been no story. That's the whole point. Pork was served to a Muslim.

Do you go around with your eyes closed, have you not read some of those placards some 'British' Muslims carry on their protests? I can never remember Christians calling for such violent acts against homosexuals.

If this reason for her sacking was incorrect, then why wasn't this dinner lady sacked well before she served served pork to a Muslim?

Funnily enough, I can't remember ever seeing British Muslims carrying any anti-gay placards.

Even Google can't find any images.

But, please - go ahead and prove me wrong.

The only stories I can remember are about the chap being abused for being gay by a gang of (what could have been) Muslims, but we can't be sure, because no formal complaint was made.

And then there was the chap who was fined for putting up the NO GAY ZONE sticker.

No...I've regularly disagreed with your posts on Muslims as well as black people and gay people because I believe your points of view are wrong.

I don't have to be a Muslim to argue against a point, in the same way that I don't have to be a woman to have an opinion on Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy and I don't have to be a farmer in order to talk about EU subsidies.

You asked me whether I was a Muslim about four weeks ago.

Before that, it was about six months ago.

Why are the time periods between you asking me getting shorter.

I am not a follower or Islam, nor any other religion.
