How is it any different to The Oasis in London, a female only hostel with gym and spa facilities and all female staff?

It does look a little like that, although the reasons are different. There is no reason for women to be on a golf course, it has no effect on the men, but a spa for relaxing/ walking around in a dressing gown or whatever will be less relaxing for women, if men are present.
...NOT to be on a golf course...lol. Freudian slip :-)

No pixie, you got it right the first time! LOL

be honest though, if there were female only golf clubs, would there be the same amount of fuss? It wouldn't even make the back page, let alone the front.
Any association which discriminates on grounds of gender (almost always against women) does not deserve to have women as members.

Golf clubs are notoriously "cliquey" and even some gentlemen members face difficulties being "accepted". What these clubs don't seem to realise is that relatively few people aspire to membership of their Little Boys' Clubs and those who do are obviously made for each other. Long may they retain their membership for their own exclusivity and leave the rest of us to lead more normal lives. As Groucho Marx famously said "I would not want to join a club that would have me as a member!"
That's because "sport" is on the back page...
I see no reason to segregate anyone, except for reasons of privacy in health, care etc. And competitions, as there will be a difference in physical strength.

Hmm, the women's game burned their proverbial bra a couple of years ago when Michelle Wie entered several of the men's tournaments.

Result? She sank without trace, never made the cut and if memory serves finished last in all but one, in which she finished second last!

As I say, if the story was about female-only clubs it would get very few column inches.
That just goes to prove why it's unfair for women to compete against men. I am very surprised in this day and age, that anywhere can discriminate on grounds of sex. Except the examples i said earlier.
"if there were female only golf clubs, would there be the same amount of fuss?"

There are about 3,000 courses in Britain. Around about 1% of them have a single sex membership policy. Of that 1% or so, slightly more than half are women-only clubs.
