Looks as though a 'nail bomb' was used.

//the bombing happened on the same day as Lee Rigby's funeral//

That could well be a relevant factor. I hadn't thought of that.
They haven't mentioned the pretty obvious link between this being a reprisal attack on the day of Lee Rigby's funeral I would think because just at the moment they'll be too concerned about trying to calm both communities down so there aren't further acts of violent stupidity and officially linking it at such an early stage ( however obvious it is) will only inflame things.
I was going to post about his funeral, assumed someone perhaps like AOG would, but strangely no one did. I watched the news, incredibly sad day for his family, leaving a two year old son

I didn't see much of the news yesterday, Em, apart from a bit of the funeral.
it's mentioned in the first paragraph, as it had in many papers, and indeed on the tv news. I am glad there was no one hurt in the bombing, whoever did it was vile.

the community leaders interviewed for yesterday's "midlands today" did not seek to connect the attack with anything, save for it being timed to co-incide with the normal period for Friday prayers.
but some people in the media did, and i suspect that some folk would too.
this sort of thing bodes ill for everyone, whoever did it needs locking up.

I don't think this is the end of it when you consider what some of the Muslims have been saying and the demonstrations they have done in the past.

Some of their co-religionists say something that people don't like and they risk becoming the target of bombers? That seems to me to be more the Northern Ireland way of a few years ago rather than the English way.

My comment about police distributing pork scratchings after an incident in a pub seems to have been removed.

There are half some dim ar*eholes on this site.
