It reminds me of the time I pulled over in a really awkward place on a busy road to let a screeching blue light ambulance past – only to find minutes later the driver getting out of the ambulance parked at Asda and leisurely collecting a trolley to do her shopping. Nothing like taking full advantage of a job! I took the number and complained.

lol and that's nothing like leading by example!

Why on earth can't they be 'on the beat' instead of having a car anyway?
I thought straddling a single yellow was an automatic £60 penalty, so heaven knows what offence they themselves committed!
No, they are causing an obstruction on the pavement, so that's OK then.
ROTFL!

Someone's going to be in a lot of trouble this morning when their boss sees this story!

Ditto Naomi.

I saw a police car put on its siren and flashing lights to get through a set of traffic lights. As it was Friday night, I assumed 'it had kicked off' somewhere. As I walked around the corner, I saw the driver exiting a local Indian restraint with a takeaway and calmly drive off.
"Councillor Richard Davies, the county council's portfolio holder for highways and transport, said he could understand why people had been infuriated by the photo.

"I've been on the receiving end of a parking ticket fairly recently from these guys and it's particularly galling when you then see something like this," he said.

But he said it was a better use of taxpayers' money if parking officers could park quickly in order to issue tickets."

what he means is, its better for the council if the "parking officers" can park quickly because they can raise more revenue for the council by issuing tickets quicker

anyway whats the big rush to issue tickets ?
// I saw the driver exiting a local Indian restraint //

:o)
shouldn't these people be on foot...
my old copper mate always said the anti-riot snatch land rovers were an essential piece of kit

for collecting the takeaways for evening 'scoff'
I really like the understated end to the article:

"Mr Davies said he was given a ticket for parking in a taxi bay in Grantham when he went to a meeting at Grantham Museum.

He thought the restrictions did not apply after 18:00, but they did"
