I agree, born 3 years later though! IMHO, the years 1975-1988 were probably the best ever, when we went from Gilbert O'Sullivan through to The Smiths, with the whole punk and synthesizer genre's in between, which were defining years for me.
I'm off to see Blondie at the weekend! with Paloma Faith too.

I was born ten years earlier but being a teenager in the sixties and a young woman in the seventies, was the best of times for a lot of reasons.
Saw her at a musical festival in Germany, circa 1989. Her boob popped out as she ran down the catwalk-esque stage in the Westfalenhalle!
It was the 70's & 80's for me Tilly. Being blown away the first time I heard the likes of Anarchy In The UK, Love Will Tear Us Apart, How Soon Is Now and so many more.
Oh the halcyon days!
At the risk of being labled an old fahrt, music which makes the charts these days is so bland and one dimensional. Just look at the diversity here from 1979:
