Has anyone found a report of this in any other paper?

I only became aware of this protest because it was 'liked' by a friend of mine on Facebook:

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/uk/thousands-of-muslims-gather-in-london-to-condemn-murder-of-soldier-lee-rigby-29294815.html

5,000 seems like a fairly decent number...so I can't understand why it wasn't deemed news-worthy. The EDL reaction received media attention, but with far less numbers.

I haven't seen that report either, it wasn't mentioned on the BBC radio this morning either during their coverage.
whilst i applaud their actions, why didn't they march on Trafalgar square, they would have shown all of London and the world that they don't hold with these terrorists. Except they did it in Morden at a Mosque, not exactly the centre, and no i didn't hear of it on any news report. The day they do that i will be down there applauding. Perhaps the reason they don't by the way is because they may come head to head with the idiots from EDL, or BNP. But that really shouldn't matter, the moderates should win every time, be much more vocal in places they can be seen, London is a huge place, with a huge population, so the more they get into the mix of it the better.
I'm quite disgusted it wasn't highlighted on the big news services, having had a bit of a google about it seems that a lot of local media did. It can't keep being said that Muslims are not speaking out when infact they are but are not being heard.

This attitude is just fodder for the BNP and EDL.
perhaps they were inside the mosque, which holds 10,000, and no one thought to invite the London media.
Because it would not suit the white british public to realise that not all muslims are murdering barstewards
Nail on the head fgt.
No I hadn't seen that in the national media.

The news obviously hasn't got through to the knuckle draggers who have threatened to burn the mosque down. Police have had to set up a guard outside.

As em10 says, a march would have highlighted their actions far better. Whilst 5,000 is impressive, as this is Europe's largest mosque one might expect large numbers there in any case.
The government too need to wake up to what happened in Newcastle yesterday. Routinely, an EDL march might gather 200, maybe 300 maximum.
Allegedly there were 2,000.
labelling all white British as racist, Muslim hating, stretch too far wouldn't you say. There is no info on BBC site, nor indeed Sky news, why not.
It was shown on the ITV news yesterday, although it could have been the London Tonight, London & South East news.
It is good that they have condemed the killing and made prayers respectfully at the mosque.

They should not have to do so in public as some sort of loyalty test. I do not want them in Trafalgar Square, I do not want them in the streets. A honest condemnation is enough.
This is good news - this is what is needed - although gathering in the streets and waving placards would have sent a far stronger message - and no doubt gained greater media coverage.
No it's not the while white British public, but as it stands this week I've had to Have very limited conversations about it to friends and family as practically everyone would see every Muslim deported to Afghanistan, I've hardly been on Facebook as the vitriol on there is awful, not just whites either I might add.

Feelings are running too high at the moment that people have lost touch with their normal sensibilities.
Perhaps they felt it was more respectful to the family of the murdered soldier to do this on the QT and not draw more attention!
Could it be that publicising this protest could escalate this into riots on our streets, which nobody wants except the extreme right wing groups. The best thing everyone can do is calm down and let justice take irs course. You can take it as read that every single Brit is apalled by this boys death. He was probably first and foremost a musician. c uttin down on the news coverage is the British way, and I hope muslims will accept that we understand that the majority of them are as shocked as we are.
Naomi, i agree,
Meera Syall of comedy TV The Kumars (g'ma) is on BBC1 Andrew Marr show. Meera is muslim and has condemned the slaughter in Woolwich. Meera's TV appearance reached more peeps than any march would.

The horrific killing of the soldier was an isolated attack and shouldn't reflect on ALL muslims.
"c uttin down on the news coverage is the British way"

Would that be the constant coverage of the videos showing the attack and the photos all over the newspaper of the savage with blood all over his hands, there's been a bombardment of that, no 'cutting down' IMO.
Indeed fgt, or perhaps it was just a token gesture, mere lip service.
Unfortunately, right now propaganda is everything.
Anyone see the Scot of Asian extraction shaking hands with the EDL yesterday, draped in a Union flag, expressing his outrage?
Looks like he got far more coverage than 5,000 at a mosque where large numbers gather routinely as a matter of course.
Chill

Ypu may have noticed that Hindus and Muslims do not get on. Which is why Pakistan and Bangladesh were established. An anti muslim Asian gentlemen is not in the least bit remarkable.
