/// Her life is funded by the taxpayer, yet privately educated Ms Minkin – who before her divorce lived in a £1.6million seven-bedroom house complete with housekeeper – claims every day is a struggle. ///

Apparently this woman does.

How can this be fair when some are to be forced to accept 'Food Stamps' from next week?

What's sad is that she is just one of thousands. What's sadder is whatever David Cameron says nothing will be done to stop it. When is the £26,000 max benefits per family supposed to start, or has that scheme been scrapped?.
benefit changes come in April, not sure how it applies to Ms Minkin..
We currently manage on less than a 3rd of that amount, with £70,000 pa we would be very comfortable.
/Benefits she receives are equivalent to earning £70,000 a year before tax/

OK
That's a dodgy piece of shorthand.

It seems to actually mean that there is a tipping point; until a salary of £70K is attained her family would be no better off than they are now

Even with three kids, uni fees, private sector house rental in St Albans, council tax etc

I would be interested in seeing the actual numbers before i was convinced of that
the point being she was used to a higher life style, what i can't get my head round is that she supposed to have earned 120k 18 years ago, really....
seems a lot for that time...
/all I had to do was to type Ms Minkin in the Google search box, and what do you think popped up? /

well i tried that aog and nothing pertaining to this story appeared on the first 2 pages just lots of Linked In references for Minchins worldwide

but then most people's education informs them that questions posted on specific News items should be accompanied by a link

pretty much the same story, she shouldn't have said anything perhaps, and certainly not on national tv.

well either the bentley or the range rover would have to go ... sobbing now
i , and no doubt lots of other people, manage on considerably less than this amount of money, gross or net. careful budgetting means i still have silk undies!
indeed ^^^
JJ it was Fidel Castro who smoked Cohiba cigars.......like all Left wing Politicians, he maintained the expensive elite lifestyle whilst preaching austerity to his minions.
£1400 a MONTH housing benefit !!!!!!
How "wonderful" to spend £230 on the weekly shop - I'm pressed to spend £50 each week - I bet she spends shedloads on dog food.
/£1400 a MONTH housing benefit !!!!!! /

One of my cousin's is currently renting a modest little house in Loughton Essex for £2,500 a month

That's what rentals cost

What happened to all the social housing?

O yeah I remember, Mrs T sold them all and rigged the system so local authorities couldn't replace them.

That's turned out to be very good value I must say
Preaching austerity to Millions Sqad

Like George Osbourn perhaps

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2118669/George-Osborne-Im-wealthy-pay-50p-tax-rate.html

Multi millon pound home from familly firm - that is losing money hand over fist

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/dec/22/george-osborne-family-business-losses

Well no wonder somebody's against the mansion tax

Looks like it's not just Left wing politicians enjoying the high life whilst preaching austerity!
I could manage for 6 years on that money,
Incidently I don't think you'll find Cohiba cigars are that expensive if you happen to live in Cuba!

Doh!

people like her need to relocate to find a job the way people have had to do for generations
