I was gobsmacked today when a friend told me she irons socks & undies. Why? I do the bare minimum of ironing. What about the rest of you?

Oh God Mrs O, I iron everything.....socks, underwear, towels, dish towels, pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers...the list is endless!

Why iron socks & undies?
Evening, mrs_o.

No, I wouldn't iron undies or socks. Strange friend!
Seriously, I do most things in this house. But I absolutely REFUSE to iron anything. I am a hopeless impatient ironer. If anything needs ironing I get Mr BM to do it.

I've lost count of the times I've gone off for a shower to go to work and come down with something and said "darling" (flutters eyelashes) "would you be ever so sweet and iron this for me and then I might cook you something very nice for tea".
I iron clothes, but not bedding, underwear, etc - it's like a Chinese laundry here as it is.
Yep, I have a friend that irons everything including tights! Me, no very rarely.
I iron my work uniform...and that's it. Every thing else I own doesn't need it.
Because it's how I have been brung up! lol My Mum irons everything too and it's just how it always has been in our house. I can't explain why, it's just habit I guess.
I only iron in the summer when linen clothing is just that bit too crumpled.

I once found my Mother ironing my bra!

In winter I have even been known to iron just the front of school shirts as the kids wore jumpers over them
I got rid of my iron about 8 years ago. Cannot begin to tell you how liberating it was.

Life is too short to spend any of it ironing.
I absolutely can't understand this either, mrs 0 - why would anyone iron socks or pants? why would anyone iron anything that doesn't need it? Ironing towels wrecks the bounciness. I admit to ironing teatowels otherwise they won't fit in the drawer, and pillowcases, but not much else. Why would you?
The important word is "needs". If anything needs ironing, it gets ironed. Otherwise.....tough.
Mr BM did once ask me to iron a shirt for an evening function. So I ironed the front and the collars........

(He never asked me again).
I LOVE it.... I used to iron everything. My kids clothes were the talk of the school.... Now neither of them iron anything.....Last time I went to my Daughters I plugged the iron in to iron the Kids school shirts. The light was flashing on and off so I took the plus to bits. I was horrified to see the earth wire wasn't connected. I spoke to the Daughter and said " You know you could have had a very nasty shock" she said "no I couldn't Mother, I've never used the iron since I've been here" The shame....2 years and no kids clothes ironed :o(

Mr O irons his own shirts as he was fed up of the tram lines on the sleeves

(My cunning plan worked)
Oh I remember, it's that thing taking up room in the cupboard, comes out when OH needs a shirt ironing for a funeral
