/// He said: "If more men were homosexual, there would be no wars, because homosexual men would never kill other men, whereas heterosexual men love killing other men. ///

Perhaps Mr Morrissey should conduct a little research, before making such wild and brash statements?

I think Mr Morrissey is talking through his a***.
Lord Kitchener famously had an eye for a pretty subaltern and Cecil Rhodes, who helped bring much of Africa into the Empire, had similar tastes.
Not all Gay men are liberal, peacenik, lefties.
// Not all Gay men are liberal, peacenik, lefties //

True. You couldn't describe Ronnie Kray like that.

Every time Morrisey opens his gob he comes out with some nonsense or other these days.
AOG

Are you seriously giving credence to Mr Morrissey's musings?

Do you think that pulling figures about gay serial killers somehow supports the argument that gays don't kill?

That's an extreme reaction. If someone said, "Women don't rape men", I'm sure you could find instances where that has happened, but it would be statistically irrelevent.

A more potent argument is that gay men and lesbians have found for years to serve their country in the US, and as others have pointed out - many leading military figures have been gay.

However, if Morrissey had stated that gay men and lesbians are less prone to physical violence, I would say he might have a point - but that's based on personal observation.

There was a study carried out by the University of East London a few years ago, which concluded that:

"...gay men are no less aggressive than straight men, but tend to vent their aggression verbally rather than physically. It also indicates that homosexual men are likely to have higher levels of empathy than heterosexuals."

However, the same size was small. There were only 182 people in the study.

And 'egged on' by women it seems, since if you are interested in WW1 you wouldn't have failed to notice how some men who didn't wear a uniform were attacked and insulted as cowards.

'White Feather' and all that.

Great linkthat, but I didn't realise there were so many gays in today's RAF, wasn't in my day.

And what about these two 'Storm Troopers' bet they could start a war or two I'm sure.

In debate if someone makes a statement then one is perfectly free to produce figures or facts opposing that statement, just as some on AB have chosen to produce evidence of famous gay military figures to also oppose Morrissey's statement.
AOG

Serial killers are an extremity.

Gay soldiers are an everyday occurance.

//I didn't realise there were so many gays in today's RAF, weren't in my day//

I don't think the number of gays has increased over the years. Without sounding insulting (because I don't know when "your day" was), homosexuality was illegal so of course very few would admit to being gay.
My late uncle was in WWII and I remember him saying everyone knew who the "nancy boys" were.

Nothing changes
Well there are loads of them on this island and they fight bitchily like mad, doesn't follow!
It is not a true or rational statement.

In general men are more aggressive than women. That doesn't mean that a guy who is gay is any less inclined to be territorial and kill less.

They'd still have wars, they'd just be more stylish.

Re. Alan Carr's army. They could have Private Cleary bringing up the rear.
Or Clary, even.

Spoken in jest Mrs, it was a photograph of a number of RAF personnel marching in a Carnival, I wasn't seriously suggesting that they were all gay.
Sorry AOG, I didn't check out the link.

Note to self: check out links before opening gob
///"If more men were homosexual, there would be no wars,///

and even if there were, at least they would tidy-up afterwards!
oh dear oh dear oh dear, his recent illness must be doing something to his brain, whilst i don't wish him ill, this is just a load of nonsense.
baldric, getting out the dust pan and brush to pick up those pesky body parts, can see it now,
what is Morrisey on...
they'd have nicer uniforms tho....... :-)

Anyway - I think that most wars are started 'in the name of' religion - note I did not say that religion is the cause of war - just by people using it as a reason.
