I was thinking about organising one for the my birthday soon. My closest family are 150m away and they are all over the country and the world. My idea has come from` ALBAS afternoon tea at 3` which Ive always thought was great. So thank you Alba. I know that on Facebook there is a `create an event` and wondered how it worked. The idea Im thinking is to chat with friends and family throughout the day and even perhaps post photos drinking at eating some cake Ive `sent` them. All just for fun. Do you think Im mad !! or perhaps you could think of any other ideas I could introduce into my party (clean ones please)

TOH - no, not mad - i actually think that's a jolly good idea.
For my aunty's birthday (she died in a accident) her daughter sent us all 'forget me not' seeds, photos, and institutions to email each other with one memory about her. It was emotional. It was an on-line birthday party....
*instructions...
Just make sure that your settings are that only your "Friends " can see what you post, otherwise you will have everyone and their dog attending.

thanks everyone. My OH think Im mad. @ jamesnan, Ive already thought about what you mention and will be only be inviting friends and family. Thats a great idea ummm. might pinch that for my Mums first death anniversary in Oct. Lovely idea.
It worked perfectly. She sent the email at 12 0/c (as instructed) and we all done a 'reply to all' with our memory. Try it, it's lovely xx
I think its a brilliant idea!

Are we invited? : )
can i join in please? i think i qualify as my nearest family are over 350 miles away.
My friend made an event for her birthday party in a pub - if you don't make it private, half the town turns up :-(

aw, poor lady janine. Its awful isnt it. I love keeping in touch with all my family though which I do now on FB (only joined about a year ago) and just thought this was a good bit of fun. Havnt told them yet, so dont know what they wil think. Perhaps Alba will let me take over the afternoon tea on here though especially for you all. I wish you could all join my FB page cos I have lots of great family and friends, but I know there are some `baddies ` on here
