/// Much of this violence is linked to the tensions generated by change. This is compounded by the extraordinary isolation of the political elite, which has remained locked in the 1920s in terms of accountability, transparency and communication. ///

Hinduism does not regard women as second rate. In the Hindu religion they are fifth-rate or worse. Women are not even human in Hunduism. Hinduism believes in the cycles of reincarnation, and each time a man lives and dies well, he is reincarnated into a higher caste until he leaves mortality behind him. If he lives a bad life, he will be reborn as something inferior, and have to work his way back through higher and higher forms of life. Before a woman can be reborn as a man, ( a higher form of life) she must go though the life of an elephant. Hinduism also states that if someone is born into a miserable life, it is that person's fault for behaving badly in a former life. So, if you are a woman, and get beaten up, raped or killed, you deserved it because you were evil in a previous incarnation, or you would have come back as a man. So, men, as superior beings, are free to treat women as muck. They think they might even be doing women a favour by hastening their next reincarnation.
Yes, Naomi, in the recent cases highlighted here in the UK. I was wondering, what's immigration like in Austria?
Austria? I've no idea. Why do you ask?
Because AOG seems to lay blame on immigrants and ethnic minorities.

I'm fuzzy headed...will explain my train of thought after coffee No3. Happy new year x
perhaps it is to do with whether Austria has similar cultural clashes, not sure why particularly. It doesn't seem to, but it has tightened up it's immigration policies from what i have managed to glean. Most immigrants seem to have come from the surrounding countries and settled.
Morning Ummmm. Okay. Had a good night then? Happy New Year! x
also i don't think he does, perhaps that is some people's take on it.
There has been enormous changes right across Europe, since the end of WW2, many people have migrated to where there was work, and many settled in those countries, raised families and contributed to those countries presumably. The biggest change has been the migration of peoples from Asia, Africa, perhaps that is what AOG means, perhaps he will pop up later and tell us.

I'd started the celebrations when I was thinking it :-)

Austria has the worse cases of abduction and sexual slavery. My thinking last night was to point out that it's not just Asian men that are capable of such evil.
I don't understand the thing about immigrants and ethnic minorities. This is about Indian men abusing women in India. They're not in an ethnic minority there. Come on Ummmm, slurp your bucket of coffee. :o)
really, i only know of the one case in recent years, do you have link to that.
one other, both these men were fathers who sexually abused their daughters. Rather unlike the men who have systematically abused the girls here, too many to count.
Sorry Ummmm, cross-posted.

//Austria has the worse cases of abduction and sexual slavery. //

Does it? I didn't know that. Where does that come from?

Actually, we know it's not only Asian men that abuse women, but this abuse is cultural, which means in some societies it's accepted and ignored.
lol...that's why I pointed out that I was already celebrating when I had that train of thought.

You know what it's like, few glasses of wine and go completely off topic :-)
hic! :o)
