not sure who that is referring to, perhaps VHG can give us an update, opinion.
We see it again and agin on here Fred

Those with racial prejudices seize on any crime committed by an immigrant or supposed immigrant but are deathly silent on any similar crime comitted by a native.

They try in this way to build an impression that this country's woes are caused by immigrants.

It's like the riddiculous 'any woman could safely walk home during the blitz' argument that was tried the other day

If it's a slow race day they will often have a go at those who they think are beneath them too - 'chavs'

oh and Guardian reading liberals who dare to point out their folly

anybody really who isn't like them and shares their values

The decline is not from the country as it was but some fantasy country where everybody was of a 'proper sort' - or if not at least knew their place and recognised their betters as such

Well we are wrong to blame mass immigration for our woes are we, who said so?

No other than Mr Blair, and we all know we can trust what he says.

/// Mr Blair defended his record and warned that debate on the issue should be ‘handled with care’. ///

"is that those men had a lax attitude to marital fidelity and taking care of their children. They all had any number of girlfriends, and endless children with them, most of the girlfriends were white. Those children rarely if ever saw the father, and i am not talking of a few here, but very many."

Doesn't that apply to so many people of so many races em, especially these days?

jake, did you not twist a comment about the vote on the Egyptian constitution in a recentr thread to imply that people's potential unhappiness with the matter was because Egyptian were Muslims?
/// anybody really who isn't like them and shares their values ///

Er! Pot calling the kettle black springs to mind.
has someone actually said it's all black people's fault that the country is in this state. JTP, you are just as bad lumping everyone under the banner as racist if one dares to express the opinion that immigration in the last number of years may not necessarily been a good thing, irrespective of the persons ethnicity. And we did have a far more cohesive society, one where neighbour helped neighbour, and those who needed help got it. I don't think it's like that now.
This was the 1970's as i have said. And those guys would be grandfathers and maybe great grandfathers now. Some went back home to the West Indies, and some moved on to other countries, notably USA and Canada, leaving behind all those children.
// It's like the riddiculous 'any woman could safely walk home during the blitz' argument that was tried the other day //

Too right it's ridiculous Jake. My great Aunt Edith was killed by a 1000lb Nazi bomb in 1940.

There is an implication in the original statement - presented with a heavy dose of sarcasm - firstly that the offenders are immigrants, but second that the country has been in decline since immigration started, whatever that might mean. I don't agree with that view, if it is a view, but I don't have a problem with people expressing such a view. I don't even mind if people express those views in an offensive manner: what is slightly disappointing is the howling down of those who point out that such views might be offensive.
ludwig, as were many.
/// Those with racial prejudices seize on any crime committed by an immigrant or supposed immigrant but are deathly silent on any similar crime comitted by a native. ///

That is totally untrue, but it may seem that way to some, simply because unfortunately more and more certain types of crimes are committed by those who are not 'natives' of this country.

Unfortunately these days one can read or hear of a certain crime being committed, and before the criminal is identified instantly make the correct assumption that the person is not of the indigenous English stock.

Obviously that is not saying that some crimes are not also committed by the indigenous English stock, that would be ridiculous in the extreme to say otherwise, just like some who says that no crimes were committed in the 'Blackout', but then no one ever did say that, it being only in the heads of those wishing to ridicule others.

Would you or VHG ever post a non-sarcastic thread titled 'Ah the joy of immigration' in relation to any of the black Olympic gold medalists?

No you would not. And I say they because you had plenty of opportunity to do it this year.

When a black Briton does well - silence.

When a black Briton commits a crime - an unseemly rush to the keyboard.

Is this not true?
No, sp,I'm sure some posters on here were fulsome in their praise of Mo Farah, adding, for the sake of clarification, that he wasn't really British
Oi Git - that was fact, not "abuse" ;-) ;-) ;-)
///"It matters not whether you put a smiley after such an offensive post"///
Translation: I WILL have my little pomposity fit and spin your post in my favour.
FredPuli

My point exactly.

It boils down to this - the 'right leaning' members of AB will only ever post a 'Ah the joy of immigration' when they are being sarcastic.

We did not see any of them posting anything similar (but heartfelt) about say, Jessica Ennis at the Olympic Games.

And they mistakenly think that others don't notice this strange dichotomy.

I only hope they refuse treatment by anyimmigrant NHS worker, care assistant and home help when they get older.

Yes...ah the joys of immigration.

AOG

Are you really saying that no-one said it was safe for women to walk about in public during the Blitz?

I may be wrong, but I could've sworn someone did...
I asked a question. Anybody care to answer it?
Not in my eyes Daisy.
Thankyou for your reply Zacs.
