Just watched the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special, and it got me thinking.... Did smithy and ness get together at the end of the series? I watched it but I honestly can't remember! TIAx

Yes, least you're led to believe they do. It ends with smithy begging nessa not to marry Dave.

Smithy shows up at Nessa and Dave's wedding ceremony with Neil, pleading for her not to marry him, and accusing her of not loving Dave. Dave, much to everyone's surprise, agrees with Smithy that Nessa does not love him, and the ceremony is called off.

I love Gavin and Stacey, and love the setting (used to go to Barry Island as a child) + I still have the accent (despite not living in S Wales for years).
